Discussion
Organisers: ALMC Motor Club
Venue: CityNorth Hotel, Gormanstown
Date: May 9th
Website: www.almcmotorshow.com
Octane Contact: TBC.....position still available
Spaces on display: TBC
The first of the car shows that Octane will be a part of in 2010 takes place on May 9th at the City North Hotel, Gormanston, just off the M1 at junction7. We are waiting on confirmation of spaces available to us and that will updated in the next few days. As well as cars for the display we will need help in manning the stand and also the organisers will need help to direct cars to the different display areas so if anyone wishes to help out as a marshal on the day please fill in the enquiry form on the show website highlighting the "Assisting on the day" option, for those willing to display cars you fill in the same form but highlight the " Exhibiting my car" option and mention in the comments section that you are part of the Octane.ie group. Don't register to exhibit until we know how many space we are getting but feel free to show interest by replying to this post.

That's all down to the guys at the ALMC and who they invite and what cars they would like to see at the show on display. Its kinda like a Motorshow event with the cars on display being pre-booked by the club to have on show. But obviously anyone can come as a spectator to have a look around and enjoy the day. I'm going whether or not my car will be entered this year as it was a great event last year.

Are you going to have a number of spaces for Pistonhead members or just be part of the Octane group?

i'm on the organising team and we're very grateful to sudesh and will for spreading the word on pistonheads.
while we could allocate specific number limits to clubs or sites, it's not really necessary. we are limited on numbers overall though, due to space limitations so to have as much diversity as possible, we will obviously not be looking for say 5 or 10 examples of a particular car. so it will likely be first-come basis.
EDIT - i just noticed sudesh's point above about expressing interest here : that would be very helpful
but there will be plenty of parking on the day and as we learned after last years show, there were even some impromptu club car shows going on in the car park that we didn't know about on the day.
having been to a couple of the PH NI runouts, i will say that we would very much welcome a presence from you guys in the exibition area, and it goes without saying that everyone is welcome on the day, whether exhibiting or viewing.
also we are making arrangements for this to be a family-friendly event and will post more details on that closer to the time.

So does that mean that even if I have nothing really to put on display, there'll be somewhere for me to park and have a look around? How many turned upto last years show? From the photos i've seen it looked to be a great turnout.

definitely - we have an allocation of approx half of the hotel car park for max 250 display cars, but we have access to much more public parking in the business park, where the hotel is located. How many turned upto last years show? From the photos i've seen it looked to be a great turnout.
at a guess, we had a couple of thousand people come through last year based on occupancy of the car parks.
That's would be up to the event organisers. Best thing to do is for us to start our list and if there is anything on there they would for the show, I'm sure they will be in touch.
As mentioned I'm going whether or not my car is on display.
