Hi all

To those on here who insure on an Admiral Multicar policy (and I know there are a few) can you help with a query:

When getting a quote through their system it asks how much no claims bonus will apply to each car.

What does this mean exactly? Let's say I only have 7 years (I actually have 18 years but I only have written proof of the last 7) and want to insure 3 cars, do I have to split the 7 years over the 3 cars eg 3 yrs, 2yrs and 2 yrs - or does the 7 years apply to all 3?

Thanks

John

I've the multi car...
I believe that that NCB can only be applied to one car, you'll have to start earning on each additional car.

We moved from the usual his n hers own policies each with NCB to multicar for three cars, they gave us a preferential "imaginary" full NCB on the third car for quote/price purposes, I am now acquiring a second set of NCB on the third car.

Thanks for the reply.

That's a bit of a a swizz really then isn't it? In the sense that you can get great quotes for 3 cars but you'll never actually be able to get the insurance for that price.

We might be just as well sticking to Direct Line who will give us full NCB on all 3 cars i.e. 2 for me and 1 for the wife. Only snag with them is that they won't cover both of us to drive all 3 cars with full NCB, they'll give me full NCB on 2 cars and my wife her full NCB on the 3rd but will only allow her to be named driver on 1 of my 2.

I got a quote for a multi-car policy with Admiral too. I left it for a few days then I got a phone call offering me full NCB on the second car, which didn't have any NCB. It was too good an offer to say no to, but when they tried to add my classic to the policy, it wasn't listed on their system. In the end, they said my model didn't exist and couldn't offer me insurance for it.

Thats how I understand it..... I guess they apply the NCB discount to the 1st (main) car & then just discount the cost of the other car(s)

The price their giving you a discount on is only a figure they have made up anyway (6x cost???)

I like the idea of a multi-car policy, the one where you start it with 1 car then add another at a later date.... but I'm worried that once I want to add the second car they will try & rip me off

I just took it out yesterday and it has saved me a fortune (5 cars between me and the wife) with out saying what cars they are it has halfed their premiums from what they were and one of them was a classic and we have only one set of NCB's each. Still trying to find the catch but cant

That was my view, especially as they threw in the imaginary NCB on the third car which was a group 20 affair...tho' with all the posts elsewhere the premium might go throught the roof on renewal in September.

Hi guys,

I just ran a quote for our cars and flippen heck it does seem good value. Anyone know how it would work if you had an accident during the course of the policy, would both NCBs be affected on renewal or only the car against which the claim was made?

my guess is it is only on the car affected - couldn't see how they could dock another innocent car that had earned bonus on it.

should know my small print but only so many hours in a day.....
