Hi Guys, something weird happened to me today. I have a 997 C2S and a Silver Merc pulls up beside me on the M1 from Newry, I floor it. Within 3 sec, the Merc flew past be like a rocket, left me for dust. It was an E class, plenty of exhausts pipes out the back. Any idea what this car was? How the hell did it wipe the floor with me. I am quite pist off acually. Is there a problem with my car do you think? Any other P owners out there?

Cheers

Could be one or they other, but are they that much quicker than a C2S? Those things weigh tonnes.

520+ HP and 460 odd lb/ft. In a straight line, and already rolling i think they would probably murder a 911 - the in gear shove of these things is epic.

The Mercedes E55 AMG is the ultimate 4-door automatic sports car, the E55 AMG took part in a comparison including cars like Ferrari 550 Maranello, Dodge Viper GTS, Chevrolet Corvette, NSX, BMW M coupe and Porsche 911 Carrera 4. The Mercedes thoroughly trounced the M coupe and Carrera 4 in the 0-60, quarter mile, standing one-mile, 0-100-0 mph and 60-0 (where it tied the Ferrari for first place) tests. The only place where the E55 could not keep up with real sports cars was in the handling tests where it placed last in both slalom and skidpad testing. If you're looking for a sports car camouflaged as a sedan, buy the E55, its definitely a bargain compared with the Ferrari and Brabus E V12. It also completes the standing 0-100-0 mph run in 16 seconds flat, 2.8 seconds faster than the E430. In the end this bad-ass Benz is fast and roomy enough to thrill you and four of your closest friends and that's a feat no sports car can perform.

Still rather have my 4syes

Will - that is really funny and a great response, but there's never that many out on a run.

If it was a 911 turbo, you could have cause for concern. but lets face it. The n/a cars arent that fast.
Although I'm sure around a track, things may be different. That said, the AMG's might do well there too.

Besides...there are more embarassing things on the road you could get smoked by :P

It's horrible when you get smoked for the first time.
Happened to me yesterday.
Got absolutely blown away by one of the new E60 M5's.
I knew it would be quicker than mine but not that much quicker.
Shall now skulk off to the corner and contemplate life.

Haven't driven a new M5 & only seen it in action on youtube sticking to a Gallardos bumber so it's rapid alrite. What were you in? Would need to be in a decent weapon to give it a go!
Remember when i had the M3 getting a fright from a Starlet turbo, was funny that...........

starlet turbo is a suprisingly quick wee car with a bit of fettling, seen them make some much more expensive machinery look silly

100bhp, and no doubt a lot more torque everywhere too.

The new ones are pretty quick indeed, especially as they're a pretty bulky car.
