Hi, the wife & a couple of friends are heading over to Belfast for a weekend in May, just wondering what the best touristy things to do are.

Got hotel (The Merchant) and restaurants sorted (Cafe Vaudiville & Zen, with one meal in the hotel)

Looking for a few things to do during the days

Many thanks

Hello there. Ulster Folk and Transport museum is a great place to visit http://www.uftm.org.uk/ A great step back in time and the transport museum is amazing too.

The bus tours are worth a look, takes you to see where the titanic was built etc.

Or a black taxi tour (we call it the terror tour..!) Takes you around the dodgy areas! http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g1864...

From your hotel it is a 2 minute walk to the John Hewitt pub for music (folk and jazz free).Belfast cathedral is in the same street.Tours of Stormont etc.popular.Tour bus gives a good introduction to city.Wok in Great Victoria St.do great Chinese banquets.Sunday mornings are a bit dull so a good time for a walk in Botanic Gardens to shake off your inevitable hangover.

Just to second the earlier recommendation to do the Transport Museum, especially if you are into cars - prefer that to the 'Folk' part of it.

http://www.discovernorthernireland.com/destination... and http://www.gotobelfast.com/ for some ideas

If you fancy a run out to Belfast Castle it is a nice spot on a Sunday and it has some nice trails up to the top of the hills where you can great view of the city and Belfast Lough.

Ollies beside The Merchant is a nice nightime spot too.

Portions far too small for a decent one despite the fisical laxative.

If they are into nightlife, there is a fair bit around the Merchant, I would probably advise staying within a 50m radius where you can find The Cloth Ear, The Potthouse, The Duke of York, The Spaniard, The Northern Whig and Ollies. Ollies is prob the best bet for a dance as it's in the basement of the Merchant! £10 in and decent crowd, if a little pretentious..

All those other pubs are well worth the visit, and the Merchant is a fantastic hotel!
