Hi does anyone have any info on this camera?

I am thinking i might have been caught as i was doing anywhere between 40mph and 60mph as indicated on the speedo.

It was about 1am so pitch black with only me on the road so my questions are:

1. Would it make a noticeable flash? (i didn't notice any)

2. Has it been recently vandalised with black paint over lens or something (hope so), or out of action for any reason, like its friend who is burnt out beside it.

3. What is the typical threshold before it triggers?

4.Is it digital, if not it will be burnt out later on in the day.

If anyone can give me any info that would be great thanks, and please no goody too shoes comments about speeding, not helpful whatsoever.

It is digital, so any images taken, go directly to jail...so to speak.

Looking at the camera, it would appear as if there is a conventional flash built into it......But Ive never actually seen any of these cameras go off. So dont know.

I would hope and suspect, that the threshold is quite high, as I personally havent heard of too many people getting done by any of the fixed site cameras in Northern Ireland.

I guess all you can do is hope and pray. Strictly speaking, the NIP should be out within 14 days, but in reality, they will find excuses to take as long as they like.

You could also ask here....

There are some local Plod on that forum. Some friendly and normal, some who are a little like Jugde Dredd ( I am the law )

http://www.jon44w.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid...

Whilst it is a more younger, cruise based scene.....having the ability to speak directly to cops can be handy.

Dont expect much sympathy on the speeding front though.....it seems many have been brainwashed by the propoganda that speed is the root of all evil.

They wont divulge the thresholds though, but I'd say its a lot higher than the typical 10%+2 usually quoted

Also bare in mind most cars speedo's read a little fast too.

I live pretty much right beside that camera. Believe me if it went off you would know!! There is a giant big blue flash that lights up the whole road. Furthermore, a bit of inside info, the camera only works if you are travelling out of the city towards Brackenvale, not towards Belfast.

Thanks for the replies Stevie and Cat. It sounds somewhat reassuring.

If you're really that interested i had the satnav with the camera locations (pocketgps) but literally 3 minutes before the voice was doing my head in so i turned it down. I was on my way to pick someone up (going out of Belfast), was turning the music up, just checked the satnav and seen i have just passed a camera location and didn't hear the warning!

So i turned around quickly and the word f*ck came to mind as i looked at the stupid yellow box nested up in the tree.

The only reason i'm worried is my speed is very often "energetic", i'm not going to lie, but where conditions allow it is perfectly acceptable, such as 1 am in an empty road the width of a motorway.

I wasn't ripping the arse out of it either and pretty sure there was no flash, so touch wood... for the camera's sake....

I know one person who was caught by this camera, they live very nearby and should have known better. They were doing over 50 mph at the time.
