Austec Mapping for N. Ireland
Discussion
Ronan,
remapping a 4.2 will not give you great power gains. It will give you a bit, but not what you are probably thinking. The best thing achieved is to flatten out the camel humps in the torque curve. If you get anywhere near 310 bhp from a 4.2 you are doing well.
The 4.5 on the other hand is a different kettle of fish, with induction mods and remap then 390 - 400 bhp is achievable. However as you have found with an SP exhaust absolute power is not the key to tuning this engine. You need good back pressure to give good exhaust pulse and hence torque.
If you want pm me and you can have a run in a 4.5 at around the 400 mark.
A good starting point is induction and then chip plus map, but dont expect big bhp for the £s spent.
A 4.5 is the way to go!
All the best.

Bob, thanks for all your advice about the remapping. My original post was simply to see if anyone would be interested in having their cars mapped by Paul from Austec, this did not just apply to 4.2's it was for any of the TVR's.remapping a 4.2 will not give you great power gains. The reason I would like mine remapped is not just about power gains its more about, as you say those camel humps on the torque curve.
How are you finding the 4.5?
That's great David, I just need 3 other participants and then I can get on to Paul and finalise a date. Just talking about the chips, I have just installed a chip that Paul sent over to allow for my high flow SP exhaust system and believe me the difference is astonishing. If this is what he can do by designing a chip with details taken over the phone I cant wait to see what he can do on a Dyno
Just a quick update. As Phil has said, Paul is over for the 2 days and it would be great if a few of you guys from the car club could come along too.
Colin, have you any update on anybody else that would be interested? Hope the trackday went well, sorry I couldnt make it, away on hols.
Thanks
Ronan

Hi everyone
Just an update for this weekend. Paul is coming over for 2 days, Saturday and Sunday, mapping starts at 2pm on the Saturday and everyone is welcome to come. You don't need to be getting your car mapped you can just come along and meet Paul and watch him at work.
Hope a few of you will come along, should be a good day out
Cheers
Ronan
Ps. If anyone else would like their car mapped please PM me, thanks.

Just would like to say thank you to Paul from Austec for coming over and doing a truly amazing job. I can defiantly say I am more than pleased with my final result.
Also a big thank you to Phil for supplying the Dyno and everyone else that turned up
From the feedback I have had so far, I think that all the cars that Paul worked on, the owners are more than happy with the results.

Glad i could be of some help...Very please with the results on my cerb...385 bhp and 354 lbs ft from an 04 4.2ish
Paul from Austec was superb, i would highly recommend him to anyone wanting their TVR mapped, no need whatsoever for a standalone system in these cars. The MBE properly mapped is more than adequate...
More mods to come without a doubt, car goes so much better as it is now looking forward to more go....
