Hi,

Does anybody know of an insurance company in N.I who will even quote on a DC2 Integra Type R, never mind insure it?? I have tried the usual comparison websites and rang everywhere I could think of, and the best quote I have so far is £4435!!!! Most places I ring treat the car like a leper and tell me "We don't cover that kind of thing around here" before hanging up.. If anybody owns one or can give me any info it would be greatly appreciated. The car is a U.K model by the way, not a Jap import. Thanks

Stephen.

Try Tony at Greenlight insurance...

Some imports arent covered, but generally, they seem to have excellent prices, even for modified cars too.

Used to have my DC2 insured through Quinn, and am not over 30. However their rules seem to change every month. Try Frank Glennon in Dublin or James Campbell in Coleraine.

I may as well try them again because I thought it sounded dodgy at the time. They're only group 18 after all, I think it's ridiculous that they wouldn't quote me on one, even though i've been with them going on 3 years.

I changed from a DC2 to a new CTR and they refused to change my policy. I was like wtf, it is 2 groups less. Eventually girl said "my manager will insure you". Strange service sometimes. Think I will be going back to Directline tbh.

Insurance is nothing but extortion forced upon us by a corrupt and greedy government.

The insurance companies are just as corrupt as the government too !!!!!

I'm only off the phone this second to Adrian Flux, who specialise in, and I quote, "classic car insurance, hot hatch insurance, high performance car insurance, modified car insurance, 4x4 insurance, grey import insurance, kit-car insurance and much more!"..

But don't cover a U.K spec Integra..

Hmmm...

you cant go wrong with bell or elephant in my experience! I just swap between the 2 every year and they ALWAYS beat each others quotes!

I would recommend DirectLine, insured me on the Sagaris (group 20) but I`m probably not that risky (31 years old, 10+ years NCB, etc.) for £730 (fully protected)

Direct Line def worth a try. I sold my Chimaera just as renewal was due, but they were going to cover me for just over £280! The previous 2 years I had paid just under £1000 via local brokers!

(Being 42 yrs old helps a bit though)

I had my £51K x5 insured by Endsleigh for £620 fully comp, which when you think about it isnt bad. Insurance is about risk. If you're below a certain age, they will bump up the premium because statistically you're likely to have an accident. The integra type R will always be tricky to insure because its not a UK car, and therefore parts for repair could be hard to source.
