Surely there will be real opposition to the CO2 charge of £25 per day.If it goes through the owners of affected motors will face huge depreciation which is bound to have a knock on affect throughout the country.10 other cities in britain are said to be considering similar schemes. How long before someone proposes this for Belfast?

Cant see it TBH.

IMO the hauliers should tell everyone in London to F.. off, you can all starve.

Its not too many cars is the problem, but too many people. If there wasnt as many people, then there wouldnt be so many cars etc !!!

Every new tax the government creates, is purely a money spinner. They just tag names and reasons on them to try and justify them.

Hi,

The traffic inside Belfast isn`t that bad, I drive through the center of town most mornings (live near oddessey drive to far end of lisburn road). Due to flexible working hours I leave at random times from 7:30am to 9:30am and its always much of a muchness.

The problem with Belfast is the west-link, once that is sorted then I doubt there will be much need for this (yet)

I don't travel on it that frequently any longer however I get the impression that even with the present roadworks, the Westlink is much quicker than it used to be. Sadly I imagine that the benefits will only last 5 years before the improvements will be ineffective. As regards a city centre charging zone, I can't see it happening for a long time. For most people there is no viable alternative to driving. I also find it hard to imagine what areas the zone would cover.
