Hi Guys,

i spend quite a bit of time in england with work and no matter where we stay theres lots of nice local pubs you can go for a few drinks.

Its something i have always missed living here in belfast - somewhere local you can pop into for a few drinks on a sat night or in the summer nights. Yes there are local pubs but not the sort you'd go into if you value your life!!! if you know what i mean.

That's because in England drinking is a friendly social pasttime whereas in parts of Belfast drinking is foreplay for fighting.

I live in Belfast (city center) and can walk to most of the central pubs but I haven`t found any that really do the 'English style' pub feeling well.

My personal favourite at the minute is McHughs, happens to be the closest too smile I also like the Kings Head during the day/late evening.

I too spend quite a bit of time in England and also note too that in Belfast the 'local' pub scene is very different altogether. That said, while we may not have so many generally inviting locals, what we do have in terms of atmosphere and craic in far surpasses anything I've experienced across the water.

Definitely try the Four Winds! It's not rough, does great food and is fairly family friendly too. It's also got a sports bar. Or the ascot in Carryduff got knocked down and rebuilt a short distance away making 'Eight South' which is also quite nice and good for food.

Both are in South Belfast area so i don't know how convenient they are to you lol

Closer to the city centre try Cutters Wharf.

Hi, yeah been to the pubs you mention for lunch drinks and are decent, what im really referring to is a local to wander to in the summer. im in east belfast and the only close ones we could use are ciyms rugby club or the park avenue (providing its early)
