Anyone on this forum who attended the rally?

I went over and stayed near Enniskillen and had a fantastic time. Only managed one stage per day due to traffic etc but thought the whole thing was very well run.

IF they run another WRC event in 2009 as mooted I will definately be back!

Caught Stormont on Thursday evening - crap to be honest and a made for TV publicity event. Standing tickets were in an area that was very flat, so by the time we got there there was a line of people around the outside and we were stuck trying to see over shoulders and only catching glimpses of cars.

Headed straight to SS3 from Belfast on Thursday night and slept in Hotel Prelude. Not very comfortable. Friday, caught SS3 in two seperate viewing points. Then travelled to another corner on the same stage for SS6. Then on to SS10 for the afternoon.

Saturday caught Service in Sligo. Travelled to SS14 and arrived too far down on the 'cancelled' part and eventually made it to SS16.

Sunday caught SS20.

Impressions of the rally... I thought the crowds at the 20 this year were big to see Loeb, Sordo and Hirvonen, the crowds at the weekend were HUGE. Monsterous. The rally was extremely well run. The programme maps were very good, though the programme was much too big physically. It should have been A4 sized and thick as opposed to tabloid newspaper size.

I'm glad I went, I would have been pissed off had I missed it, but, for me, the rounds of the ITC are just as good a spectacle, the crowds are smaller, you can get closer to the stages, closer to the action and you see more 'sideways' action etc. I think I had it too hyped up, WR cars are about making time going forwards instead of losing time going sideways.

Caught 6 out of 20 stages in total, could have easily caught more.... and I slept in County Leitrim... I didn't think I would ever do that!:P

Didn't see a single bit of highlights all weekend. They're on either RTE1 or RTE2 at 11.50 tonight though, so hoping that they'll be good.

Went to stormont, the few cars that run before the rally were much better to watch and sounded loads better.Headed then to scotland to see a few stages of the R.A.C. much better than WRC in my opinion.

I have to agree! The whole Stormont experience was not a good one. I felt that we were in for trouble when the buses for the Park & Ride only turned up at 16:30.

The other big annoyance was the commentary stopping after just half the cars had been through!

Haven't been on here for a while, but I was at the rally. Have to say that next time I go I'll be doing it a bit better. Ended up with some crap spots for viewing due to not planning particularly well!!!
I did get a good one on SS19 though (see below) where I was hanging out of a tree!! Got absolutely drenched and mucked to the ba11s but had great craic!
