Larne, what happened?
Discussion
Hi,
Spent last weekend in N.I, used to live in Larne from when I was 9 to 15 years old. At the time I was there it was a up and coming town but now 35 years later I got a very big shock, it was cr@p, what has happened?. My wife and I stayed at Carrickfergus which is a very nice town that is obviously on the up and everywhere in N.I that we went it was the same including Belfast.
However when we got to Larne I was ashamed to tell my wife that this was where I spent part of my childhood, with the catchment area of Larne I would have expected it to be a thriving and prosperous but it looked like the bad parts of Glasgow used to be a few years back.
Has Larne had bad management for the last 35 years and if it has, how the hell has this happened because when I lived there it had such a bright future.

It's a town in transition - from ferry port that prospered during the Troubles to dog-eared cess-pit - BUT - gateway to the North Antrim coast - there are large private housing developments starting to happen - the beautification will follow - what potential - great place to invest your nestegg - come back in ten years time and see the difference.
