BP Ultimate 102 or Shell V Power

Apparently we come under the control of Shell Dublin and they don't see the need for V Power on the island of Ireland! If we're quick we might get this put onto the St Andrew's Agreement retrospectively - just stick it on the bottom of that letter that Big Ian's been waving about.
Seriously have you tried using Octane Booster such as Millers - works out cheaper too.

BP Ultimate...
Shell's new V-Power, the Optimax replacement is said to he higher Octane, possibly circa 98/99 RON.
But unless your car is being tuned to make use of any extra Octane, using the fuel specified will do just fine.
Southern Ireland do have a fuel that is Branded V-Power....its just the regular 95 RON though. Not sure who they get away with that.

Had a good run from Scotland down to London during the summer. One tank of Optimax and one of the equivalent shell product at the time back to back. I found Optimax more responsive under load. The higher octane was no use to the car as it does not have a knock sensor but I do think there is other magic in there somewhere.
Most of the time I run on Asda fuel as there are no branded petrol stations in my area. A full tank of Optimax makes the care feel more alive after a few weeks on Asda’s stuff. Or at least that what I tell myself, a good excuse for a run out to get fuel.

hi any update on the super unleaded in n.i? Is tesco 99 or V power available. What about the shell garage at nutts corner? What about maxol super. I use BP 97 ron, but there must be something better out there??
Thanks.
Not at the pumps there isnt...Thanks.
You could buy race fuel at £xxx per whatever if you need it that badly.
Ive always managed to make do on SUL, as unfortunately its all we get here
The best is still BP Ultimate, or regular SUL
Wish I'd read this post last week - I've just returned from a trip to Ballincollig (south of Cork) - approx. 600miles round trip in the Cerbera. I filled up in Dublin on the way down on Thursday with shell V-Power - it was more expensive than ordinary unleaded so I stupidly assumed it was higher octane. It was crap. So then I filled up again in Ballincollig last night thinking it was just a bad batch in Dublin but same again - crap, the run home last night was hindered by the 'pinking' when trying to accelerate hard.
Thought there might've been something wrong with the car but reading Stevieturbo's comment that V-power is just 95 ron makes me feel a whole lot better.
Tonight I filled up again but with BP Ultimate and did another 40-50 miles and it was way way better. I find the cerbera runs very well on Sainsbury's super but I understand it may not contain the detergents etc which are in the other more expensive brands so don't like to use it all the time.
