Antrim Traffic Branch
Discussion
Has anyone out there been caught by Antrim Traffic branch and had to go to Antrim Magistrates Court??
If so - what happened to you??
I have been trying to get some kind of gauge on what may happen to me. I have been surfing the net for anything that may give me a better understanding about what I am looking at. The brief is scaring the hell out of me and its making me want to

The brief will always try and put forward a worst case scenario. Then if it doesnt happen, you think he has done a good job.
It really just depends on the day, some are good, some are bad. Generally with any motoring offence, if you are a normal law abiding citizen, with insurance etc you will get totally shafted, even more so because you own a performance car.
One time in Antrim, quite a few year ago, I was charged with reckless for drifting round the lough carpark at Thurs/Friday night at 2am. Totally empty carpark except a blue pug 309 with 2 guys in baseball caps.
It was in a crappy 316, wet and as I say, empty car park. After a few laps posing no risk to anyone, the pug pulled out behind me and sounded horns ?????
It was 2 undercover cops looking for people driving on the grass, or so they said.
Anyway, come court, the prosecutor read....The car was seen sliding at 45deg with rear tyres spinning, kicking up stones towards a party of children playing nearby.
When my barrister pointed out the actual facts, and not these made up ones ( to which the prosecutor actually confirmed what he said were lies ), the Judge simply said, it doesnt matter where or when it was, its still a case of a young driver....blah blah blah.
You cant win really. I got a fine, but luckily no endorsement on my license, although it was on record.
