Mazda MX-5 specialist?
Discussion
Anyone know who the go-to guy is, for a front end geometry issue?
Partner's son has a nearside issue after hitting kerb last month during the snowy days.
Seems to be something off more than alignment.
Someone handy to Mallusk/Glengormley or Ormeau/East Belfast would be ideal for him to get to and from.
Cheers as always chaps.

Not a specialist I can think of. A low speed smack from a kerb might be enough to crumple a wishbone or just knock it out of alignment.
Magowans in Mallusk can check the alignment for you. They should be able to tell you if it's wildly out and pinpoint where.
New wishbones can be got fairly easily or second hand from breakers like Autolink, Traynors etc. Any indy garage should be able to fit it. Then Magowans to align it properly.

Probably a wishbone then. They tend to crumple before the chassis mounts. To be sure it needs put up on a lift and inspected. A specialist might spot it straight away but a decent mechanic should find the problem fairly quickly.
I use a guy in Randalstown which is probably no use to you. There's OMA in Mallusk, he's a Subaru specialist but by all accounts a top bloke and excellent mechanic. Hoping so because my Legacy is going there at some point.

I know of Michael at OMA, was thinking of seeing if he'd have a look or suggest someone he'd trust for Mazdas.
Thanks for the heads up on the wishbone - I'll see if her son remembers what McGowans said when they had a look, after being recommended to take it to them for checking the alignment.

OMA work on many cars, not just Subarus, give him a call. Although surprised McGowans couldnt offer more insight, as they actually had it hooked up to an alignment machine so shouldnt be rocket science to suggest where the problem may lie at that time. Thanks for the heads up on the wishbone - I'll see if her son remembers what McGowans said when they had a look, after being recommended to take it to them for checking the alignment.
Although there are many parts of the car that contribute to alignment, from bolt on parts to the actual chassis.
Davey at East Engineering in Ballyhalbert is my favourite MX5 Dr. I recommend paying him a visit as he carries virtually every spare out there from several broken Mk1s and is is no stranger to them, nor is he hard to pay. If you fancy giving him a bell PM me and I'll give you his No.
