The Blibs are heading up to Southwold near Lowestoft for the Easter weekend. As usual when we go away, I post a thread on the local regional forum to ask the PH collective of the area for any tips and hidden treasures in our chosen location.

Have you any recommendations for places to visit and things to do? I've already managed to persuade Mrs Blib to come along to see a mate race at Snetterton for a couple of hours on the Sunday afternoon.

What else is worth visiting or checking out in the area?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Blib,

Warm welcome to my part of the world.

If you have kids, take them crabbing at Walberswick, only a stones throw from Southwold

Have excellent Fish & Chips at Aldeburgh

Take the wife shopping to the beautiful city of Norwich, about 45 mins drive.

And if you like your whisky, visit England's only whisky distillery near Diss, about 50 mins drive

They do daily tours and tastings.

Minsmere an RSPB bird sanctuary is just down the coast.

Thorpeness - just N of Aldeburgh) is pleasant/genteel. Nice village and the House in the Clouds always gets a "WTF" from first-timers. Tea+buns at the Mere is nice.

Flatford mill is a really nice place to visit! Beutiful countryside with the river passing through! national trust owned. Also rowing boats on the river for hire(not to expensive)
John constable painted here, his father owned the mill! Definatley worth a look on a nice day!
