As per the title really. Looking for nice villages near Norwich - 20 mile radius perhaps, consider further if extra nice.

The amusingly named 'Bungay' seemed nice when I visited it last year.

Have a look at Wymondham, Heathersett, Watton, Attleborough.

Feel free to ask any other local questions.

Really?

Aside from an easy commute, are there any other essentials you're looking for?

I'm in Salhouse, 8miles and 15-20 minutes at peak times from Norwich.

Holt (22.8 miles according to Google): http://www.visitnorfolk.co.uk/explore-norfolk/holt...

It has a VERY nice feel. Not like Wymondham, Attleborough, etc.

Convenient for the N Norfolk coast, too (Cley, Wells, etc).

Holt is nice as poster above suggests, my parents live close by and it's rather pleasant.

If you have to commute then some of the really nice villages are a pig due to the roads.

Beecles is nice and pretty good to get into Norwich.

We live in a little village just north of diss and we are only 2 miles from the a140 and I would advise you look at the roads as well as the villages and more importantly which side of Norwich you will be working as crossing the city at rush hour is painful.

Horsford? Quite a small village just to the north of Norwich on the way to Holt. Has the essentials (fish and chips, chinese, indian, 2 pubs (I think) small supermarket, post office etc etc) - if you are looking for a nice 3 bed semi I may be able to help you out.........

Wymondham (pronounced windham)seems nice. So does Swaffham, which is a bit further out. Or maybe Wroxham.
For proper teeny weeny fillages try Swarsden, Mulbarton or Bracon ash. They're near Hethel too! Oh! Or Hethel!
Don't listen to the haters, Norwich is fantastic. Why're you moving here? If you want to know anything give me a PM.

If you end up moving there would you keep an eye on my grandparents please? - Lovely little village, but mostly elderly people.

Rockland St Mary (next village on from Surlingham) is very nice too, more of a mix of ages aswell - New Inn Pub there isn't bad either.

I have a friend who lives in Worlingham (near Beccles) and she seems to really like it.

I am not sure about someones suggestion for Hethersett - I lived there for a very short time and really like it, but that was before the hospital moved to Colney - I fear that Hethersett is now a commuter village.

Just outside of the city you have Cringleford - quite a posh village.

Then there is always Wroxham - some beautiful properties backing on to the river, but I wouldn't live there as it is incredibly touristy.

If I can help any further please drop me a PM - Norwich isn't a bad as everyone makes out it to be. I was always very happy living there - though Scotland is far nicer!!!

Great advice... I work to the South West of Norwich and had a 25 mile commute to work when I lived in Eye (just South of Diss - lovely place!) last year... On the North side of the city centre now and it takes me nearly as long to do half the mileage - would be even worse if I didn't start early or had to drive into the city, rather than away from it!

It also has the additional amusement value of being greeted by the "Bungay Shopper", where a conveniently positioned bus shelter covers up the "Bun"...

Vote for Holt. So pretentious you'd hardly known you'd left London. So reassuring.
