Guys i asked this once before but hope that perhaps there's someone out there that can help....am planning a road trip and have a route already planned that brings us to just east of Wisbech. From there we are travelling to Skegness....we're on a tour so want to find decent roads ( not main road/dual carriageways ) - we're in 7's so nice twistys/interesting is the order of teh day.
Can anyone recommend some roads between Those 2 places?
thx Mark G

In short - there aren't any. You would be better off going on the main road and diverting off somewhere. My recommendation would be as follows -

A1101 from Wisbech to Long Sutton, then A17 to Algakirk roundabout, A16 from there through Boston, Horncastle Road in Boston (easy to find off main clearway), through Frithville, along the 7 mile straight through Carrington, up to Horncastle, along the A158 to Wragby, then via Bardney bends through Bardney and back to Horncastle, then all the way to Skegness on the A158.

While this is adding another 45-60 minutes to the journey (can go from Boston to Skegness in 30 mins, however its all 30/40 limits and few overtaking places even in a 7), the Bardney bends are great. Each one is different, and still catch you out after many runs along there. Well worth the run out. with the 7 mile straight - its a bit bumpy but 7 miles of it!, and Bardney, its a good run with a bit of everything - quick straights, complex bends and nice uphill sections.

thx BB will fire up Gmaps and have a look at that and see if we can incorporate all or any into the run. we have a time element to work within as there's 16 cars and making sure that all get to the B+B at a sensible time is also a priority, so not sure if we can add it 40+ miles, unless of course they're compensated by being driven at 60mph an dnot 30-40!

I agree with BB the road from Boston to Skeg (A52) is poor for 'driving'!

If you follow his suggestion for going to Horncastle but time is tight then miss the Bardney bends, good excuse for a blat out the following day? smile

Follow the A158 out of Horncastle towards Skeg - about 2/3 miles theres a right turn - B1195, signposted Spilsby - I used to love that road in my Excel!

At Spilsby/A16 junction go straight across - 2/300 yards, church on the right, take left onto Ashby road - that will take you to the A158.

If I think of any more I'll post them.
If you want anymore info on the Skeg area PM me, I live about 7 miles away.
