Just listening to the budget review thingy on radio 2, and I'm sure that I heard George say specifically that the "A11 to Norwich" was to get funding.

Anyone else listening that can confirm?

ETA just found this:

Fingers crossed smile

Thank god for that - will make travel in and out of the county less of an ordeal. Lets just hope it does not encourage the container lorries to start using the not so Great Yarmouth again , otherwise it will be another A14.

Great knews...not!

I guess it`s good if you own a house in Thetford, or the surrounding area (which we do), and alledgedly it will make a difference to transport (percievably it certainly will), but if on a Friday afternoon you need to get past Thetford, simply carry on the A14 to Bury, and then take the A134. It takes all of 10 minute longer.

Obviously it will be good for the developement of the surrounding area, but it absolutley is only a matter of time before the dualled A11 becomes conjested, as indeed the surrounding area will as a result of the ever growing population, which will be able to travel further slightly more conveniently to work. Its the wrong solution for the most important thing, which is quality of life. Overcrowding leads to conjestion, in all forms, which leads to stress, which ain`t good.

I guess there will be a politician or snivel servant somewhere whose grubby poors will be lined because of this decision.

I really must change my name to Victor!

The SC A11 is congested anyway. How will doubling the capacity of the road cause more congestion?

That road has been a bane of many lives for people living in Norfolk who need to get places on occasions.

Its been proven countless times that if you increase the road capacity, eventually more traffic uses it, so you end up where you began.
Agreed though that if you have no choice but to use that road at the wrong times of the day/week, it will be an improvement.

If you were free to move anywhere instantly without restriction, then you would contantly be on the move, well apart from the odd occasions when you can think of better things to do (beer/women/eat/sleep etc). The only thing which stops this is the difficulty of movement, but obviously as the restrictions are removed, the more you will move. I suppose you could argue it eventually leads to chaos, because you would not have to organise anything, you could instantly react?
