Parking in Ipswich? & food.
Discussion
We're off to see Frankie Boyle on Saturday & spent some time on the internet trying to find the best place to park.
He's at the regent theatre, but some of the closest carparks are showing 2 hours max parking.
Any local help would be greatfully received.
Also Where to eat? Not MacD's!!!

The Chineese buffet place across the road from there is a good shout before the theatre. Parking is abit trickier. Might be worth getting on the park and ride somewhere. There is a small pay and display up theroad round the back of QD. Might be in luck if you get there early but there's not many spaces.
You should be able to get a place in Cox Lane (main access off Tacket Street). There's actually two car parks side by side there so if you can't get in the first carry along the road a little and go in the second. I'm pretty sure they go to a night rate after 6pm and I can't imagine Frankie Boyle being an early show!
If you want decent food you will probably have to head for St Peter's Street. Kwan Thai was very good but it's been a few years since I have been there. Trongs is opposite if you want Chinese and are very good. There's also a few decent chain type places eg Zizzi's there too.
Closer to the Regent is slim pickings...there's a couple of chinese buffet places there which I've heard reasonable reports of but not had any direct experience. Unfortunately that end of town isn't a great culinary experience unless you want extra grease on your kebab ;-)
This place:

is close by and although not the most impressive of surroundings has never failed to turn out excellent food every time I've been there.
This one is also meant to be good but I've never tried it personally:

I think the Koh I Nor is closed.
If you want a curry my brother and his mates made an Ipswich curry review site http://modellingclubipswich.blogspot.com/
For Chinese, Trongs in St. Nicholas Street was always good.

Your welcome to park on my drive , its a 15 min walk into the town center.in a nice and very quiet road. there are a few places to eat inbetween my place and the theatre. Arlintons is nice. we also ate at a place called Quayside next to the marina the food was fab, but best to book as it gets busy.

Many thanks for a very generous offer, I think we're going to try the Cox lane carpark as we don't know what time our man's going to finish on stage. The OH doesn't fancy wandering around lost at 11:30 at night.
Thanks again though
