Having just read that the so called Authorities are to re-name the Norfolk Broads, 'Britains Magical Waterland' seems crass and ridiculous. Is it just me or is the new name conjuring up images of some sought of disney funfair completely unrelated to what the 'Broads' is all about?

News to me. It's sounds incredibly stupid, even for a council idea, though.

I'm sure in the EDP a few months back that there was a futue plan to create a "DISNEY" type tourist area albeit without Mickey Mouse, but conference suites etc to attract tourism etc.

The thing is there is one major land owner in that area so the process could be a lot simpler.

Secondly, tourism as a government policy as encouraged as it boosts local economy!

To what scale it will end up as is another thing!

This is just one small box that has been ticked in a very long process!

Tragic isn't it. These people should stick to counting paperclips and watching the clock to 3.00pm when they go home.

Where did they get the 'magical' bit from? Nothing magical about a load of smelly peat bogs filled with big fibreglass bathtubs full of northerners.
