I'll provide further details asap but I know a few regulars will appreciate the early warning of a weekend to keep free in the diary......

Now what event(s) does it clash with..... Checked Norfolk Gala Day on the 5th

Couple of event related changes

Slicks are being discouraged (not sure how that works yet but I'll find out)

No drifting

PH have 75 spaces on each day

Deadline is End of July for entries submission (including me being in possesion of the cheque - might be very wise to make sure there is funds in the account for the 1-2 weeks before the event as bounced cheques cost £30 a time and will result in "no entry to the event" - Building society cheque might be an option if your pay day is at the wrong time)

Edited to add....

RAF Marham Charity Track Day Weekend

It appears my last edit didn’t hook up having got clarification on a couple of issues – sorry all and here it is again

RAF Marham have again invited PH forum users to a Charity Track Day Weekend on
Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th September 2010.

Pistonheads have been allocated

75 places for Saturday.
75 places for Sunday.

PH's who want to do both days is not a problem I know several do.

Please see below the invite to the next RAF Marham Charity Track Weekend on 4-5 September 2010. We have managed to secure a much earlier date this year, I hope this will ensure warmer weather!

Please look out for some minor changes in the event brief, in particular we would like to discourage the use of slick racing tyres on the event (due to increased FOD) and we will not be allowing any drifting on the event.
Don’t forget that these events have raised just shy of £60,000 for charities in the last 4 Events.
So the drifting thing is easy but the slicks rule needed clarification – if cars turn up with slicks they will be able to run however Marham organisers would prefer if people didn’t use them.

RAF Marham Charity Track Day Weekend

RAF Marham would like to invite you to a Charity Track Day Weekend on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th September 2010.

The track uses a combination of the airfield's main runway and taxiways resulting in a track that is around 3 miles long consisting of wide, smooth tarmac and concrete with lots of safe run offs. There will be approx 1 mile of the main runway in use with many sweeping curves and chicanes along the taxiways.

The Track Days will run from around 9am to 4:30pm on both days, split into either 30 or 60-minute sessions depending on numbers of participants. All the necessary facilities, such as toilets, catering, drinks, marshalling, medical and fire cover to support the event will be on hand. The atmosphere and event is relaxed, enjoyable and safe.

All participants who will be going onto the track, either as driver or passenger, will need a helmet. Race suits are not needed, but natural fibre clothes with full sleeves and legs are strongly recommended. Cars must be in a safe and road-worthy condition, with normal seat belts as a minimum, and a fire extinguisher secured safely in the car (a plumbed in system is not necessary). If the car is driven to the event then it must have valid insurance, road tax and MOT. For those driving open or soft top cars, irrespective of whether the hood is raised or lowered, it is strongly recommended that appropriate extra rollover protection is properly fitted to the car, unless the car's windscreen structure was specifically designed to provide such protection.

Please note, due to lack of space, only vehicles driving on the event, and tow vehicles where applicable, will be allowed access - all passengers must arrive in participating vehicles.
Note we now have to implement a noise limit to reduce impact on local residential areas. No unsilenced exhaust systems will be permitted. A noise limit of 105 dB will be enforced (measured at 0.5m and 45 degree angle from exhaust exit at 2/3 of max rpm). Cars exceeding this limit will not be permitted on track.

Sharing a car is permitted (i.e. alternating drivers between sessions) and drivers are allowed to carry one passenger in the car onto the track, but passengers must also comply with regard to helmet and clothing and be over 16 years of age. All drivers and passengers will be required to sign a disclaimer. Spectating is not a possibility unless the individual is coming to assist someone who is driving - the reason for this is quite simple - the event insurance premiums and Health & Safety requirements go through the roof astronomically otherwise, so by restricting it to participants and assistants, it makes the event manageable, safer, more relaxed and enjoyable and importantly keeps the cost down to you.

Prices:

Single day - £70 for car and first driver. Additional drivers or passengers are an additional £10 each.
(e.g. Car and 1 driver, £70; Car and driver plus 1 additional driver or passenger, £80; etc)

Full weekend pass - £120 for car and first driver for the weekend. Additional drivers or passengers are an additional £10 each for the weekend.
(e.g. Car and 1 driver, £120; Car and driver plus 1 additional driver or passenger, £130; etc)

Payment must be made in advance, cheques need to be made payable to Service Funds RAF Marham and of course signed and dated. We are expecting a high number of participants so it is advisable to get your name down early. Please note cheques may not be cashed until 2-3 weeks after the entry deadline, please ensure sufficient funds are available in your account.

It is important to note that the track does attract stones. The track will be swept prior to the event to minimise stones but if you drive directly behind the car in front along the main straights your car could be subject to stone chips. If you’re worried about this it is advisable to fit bonnet protection or drive with this in mind throughout the event.

PLEASE NOTE: RAF Marham is a front line operational air base and as such, any operational commitments on that weekend would lead to the Track Day being cancelled. This is however quite unlikely but prior notice will be given and any money paid up front would be fully reimbursed.

Important:
For security reasons, every person entering the Base including all passengers must be security vetted in advance. Everyone entering the Base will be required to present Photo ID. Your forum organiser requires the following details and payment from drivers and passengers by Thursday 5th August 2010 to allow time for the security team to check everyone. The details required are listed below and it must be stressed that they will be held in the strictest of confidence. Please note that after this date, only changes to vehicle details will be permitted.
Required details:
Forum - ie PH (not a Marham requirement - just to help me manange 3 forums)
Full Name (Surname, Forename) YOUR REAL NAME NOT FORUM ID
Full postal address
Tel No.
Date of Birth
Place of Birth
Passport No. (if possible)
Car make and model (of both track car and tow vehicle if your car is
trailored)
Car registration (of both track car and tow vehicle if your car is
trailored)
Day you are attending: Sat/Sun or both
So that's all the stuff you know so now READ BELOW

This is going to seem really fussy or rigid but it's going to have to be - sorry that's just the way it needs to be - if you can't comply with my policies below don't ask to come to the event

So message me with your details points 1 - 9 please be nice and format the information properly with caps and lower case as you would expect if you were co-ordinating the attendance of nearly 200 cars and people. I can just copy and paste it into the database.

Should you chose not to format the data properly you might want to understand the next statement and what effect it can have

You are responsible for the data - if I have to re-type it because it's formatted badly you should know I am dyslexic and what that means.

I'm not responsible for any errors in transposing data that result in your security checks failing and your entry being rejected before the event

(Plus it really creates a shed load of uneccessary work for me..... so just play nice - please)

Example

PH
1. Child, Brian
2. 18 Trackday Road, Northampton NN18 1P
3. 01973 212223
4. 12/01/65 (UK Date format DD/MM/YY please none of this US format stuff)
5. Northampton
6. GB01458965
7. Track - Opel Monza GSE, Tow - BMW 740
8. Track - B5 GSE, Tow - A3 OCD
9. Sat & Sunday

Then follow with additional drivers or passengers as required 1-6 for all please

If you can't message me because you are "too new" - post up in this thread and I'll message you as soon as I see the post and don't worry we will soon be sorted

On reciept of your details I will add your details to the database and respond with an email detiling where to send the cheque or Postal order to Note - PAYMENT by Cheque/Postal Order (in £ sterling please) payable to Service Funds RAF Marham - No cash by post please.

Please do not send cheque just beacuse you've been before and know my address - wait for my email confirming I have your details or it could all go pear shaped.

Once the cheque is sent don't bombard me with emails requesting confirmation that I have received the cheque - if 200 people do that it's a nightmare

I will confirm reciept of the cheque closer to the event with enough time so that if one or two did go missing in the post we can sort it out before I have to pass the payments onto Marham.

Additional info will be posted here closer to the event

The runways and taxiways are kept extremely clean. The RAF are paranoid about getting their millon pund engines damaged.

Have to agree. The two schools don't play well together. No doubt there's enough interest from the drifting crowd to run a separate event. A positive step.

Lets not go down the discussion route re drifting please - no drifting end of.....

Noise limit yes but it's really to stop excessive noise from unsilenced cars - from memory 105 db if you are loud enough to be subjected to testing

Marham can be a bit chippy especialy off the normal lines - the circuit gets swept before the event but people who take unusual lines or rather go way off line can sometimes bring back small stones with them. Also if you spend all your time tucked up behind people you will increase the chances of stone chips

Bottom line if you are worried about paint make your own space and stay on line

Will try to make the Sunday this year as the SLOC have a National Day/Sprint at Curbrough on the Sat.
Probably my last Marham as the old girl is getting a full top/bottom/inside paint over the winter.

Of all the cars that have been there Steve's Sunbeam has to be my all time favourite and having had the experience from the passenger seat, its raw power its just simply awesome, the faster it goes you can't help but feel the size of the grin grow from inside your lid. Shame i'll miss seeing it this year, its worth the money to go just to go out for 5-6 laps in it. biggrin

11 drivers? smile

Edit: Actualy, looking at flights (the prices seem to have gone silly recently +the Euro is now worth 25% less than it was 6 months ago), I may have to give this one a miss frown

I think you're probably one of Stu's 10 already Chris, and the MX-5 will probably be there. John and I took it to Cadwell a few weeks ago - great fun, brilliant day out!

I'll be at Marham too if I may, Nova GTE and Skoda rallycar again. Skoda will have a few subtle chassis mods to make sure it doesn't roll quite so easily...!

So you have another skoda, or did you put a new roof on the old one? A few subtle mods eh - cut coils and no slicks then... wink

Glad to see the MX-5 is still doing sterling track duties. John seems very happy with it! I do wish I could have afforded to keep it though frown

Hopefully she'll be still running okay after the Curborough day, so prehaps after all your comments I'll raise some money for the day with passenger rides?
say 4/5 laps for a small donation?
Could have the RAFBF ladies as pit crew as well - bonus!
