You guessed it, as soon as the hot weather strikes my aircon breaks - I put the blowers on 'LO' and they just blast hot at at me - it's like being in a fan oven.

My first choice expert is busy until July; can anyone recommend someone in the Colchester/Ipswich area please? It may just be regassing or it may be more serious, don't know.

If the compressor cuts in and out quickly ie cycles on or off less than 10 seconds then gas has probably fallen out, mostly caused by lack of use making the seals dry up

If you mean with the bonnet up, it's a diesel - would I hear anything cutting in or out?

And would new gas fix it or do all the seals have to be changed first?

Should hear, or see the compressor motor, will click and enginer revs drop a bit normally,

As for seals sometimes they get lubricated and self seal, and sometimes just empty gas out,

Get a aircon guy to do a dye test for leaks, then suck all the air out the system and fill with gas

Well my thanks go to Doug - Auto Marine saw the car immediately and found the AC was empty. They put dye in it and at 3/4 pressure it went phut and blew it all out of the front of the compressor - green dye everywhere. So it's a new compressor, fortunately not too expensive as they go, and they'll be fitting it before the weekend. So quite a good result all things considered!
