Passed thru this strech of road yesterday, can't see this has been tagged so here goes,,,,
EDP story here
Shame they can't spend any of the receipts in actually resurfacing some of this stretch of road. No news posted on the Norfolk Safety Camera Partnership Website on this either..............

I'm glad this has been posted... I travel that stretch once a week and the problem that i now find is that the blue rinse brigade haven't grasped that they are average speed cameras, so the following is now happening;
1. Some now drive ridiculously slow (30 - 40 MPH the whole stretch) afraid that they might get a speeding ticket. However, others who appreciate that you can still stick to the national speed limit want to travel the route as you would do on any other A type road but because of frustration they are now over taking in dangerous places just to get past!!!
2. Perhaps some of the old school and locals need to re-visit the highway code or ask some worldly wise person that you don't need to jab on the breaks every time they come to one of the cameras!!!
These cameras might reduce the speed along that stretch but it would be interesting to see if they will really reduce accidents with the above happening??? I await in anticipation to see the stats if they are ever produced...
P.S. I am all for reducing carnage on the roads but how many accidents have occurred along that stretch (amoungst loads more UK wide) because of driving without due care and attention - perhaps retesting and driver awareness should also be paramount when we sadly get to an older age, lets get real and look at where some of the road safety problems really lay...

Ah yes but speed can be measured automatically by little robots and fines issued. Driving without due care etc requires more input. No doubt if cannabis could be detected by cameras that would also be up there with murder and treason.
What and actually involve Police work with policing? That would never catch on. The Police are far too busy having their hands tied behind their backs by red tape. nervous said:
So, assuming someone I know thought they were traffic master cams and went past them over a month ago, if they haven't heard anything yet, they're not likely to?

assumed correctly!
Assuming that person was the registered keeper of the vehicle.If it was when driving a company or hire car it could be several weeks before the NIP is delivered to the driver.
A real PITA on one of the few stretches between Acle and North Walsham where it is actually safe to overtake. As far as I can tell, most accidents on that stretch are bikes trying to take the sweeping 130mph bend at 140mph.
I now travel to North Walsham via Wroxham. It's a couple more miles but if the roads are clear the time difference can easily be made up.

Was on this road last week. Cameras cover a stretch of NSL and 50 limits, yet everyone sticks to 45. Saw a near-miss head-on as an A4 Avant tried to pass a line of dawdlers. Interestingly, the road either side of the SPECS was lit by single arc lamps, suggesting that they do not work in the dark.
