Just thought I would write. I used to have a reflex green Tuscan MK1 which some of you may remember but this was sold to an Italian dealer before Xmas.
I purchased the "Help for Heroes" 1987 Capri Laser 2.0 last year for my son and it has been great and we have very slowly been "making changes". It is now sprayed black to hide the sign-writing/signatures, which we did for £26.24 using our own compressor (and it shows)! We have replaced the seats for an excellent set from ebay. It has gone through an MOT and the new Pinto engine (205 block) is bedding in nicely. We have joined the Capri owners club and they have a good magazine.
I have also purchased a 302 V8 Ford engine, which is being rebuilt as stock with forged pistons, as I expect to be putting a Weiand 174 supercharger on top. I have always wanted a supercharged car. We will not be going for too much boost probably around 12 psi on a 8.5:1 compression ratio. The boost is easily changed, you simply replace the top pulley. I have also purchased a new tremec 3650 five speed manual gearbox, which is not a great fit but was cheap, and hey... I have friends who can make stuff!
At some point the 302 will have intercourse with the Capri, which should be fun and provide 4 seater transport that just fits in the tiny little garage that came with the new house.
If you don't mind we would like to come on a few runs this year, though the Capri is not fast (yet) or pretty?

Thanks Guys,
We'll try and do a few runs. I enjoyed Duxford last time but this year I will mostly be on bed rest after my balls get re-connected....don't ask.
Yup, it is not an unusual swap. The 302 is smaller than a Rover and went into the Capri in Australia with Ford's approval. It was called the "Pirannha". You don't even have to move the servo or battery.
That picture looks great but we are going for a more subtle "sleeper" look. The Weiand 174 is a "low profile" blower and if we get the engine in low enough, it may just fit under the standard bonnet. Following on from that it will get 2.0 Laser decals, skinny wheels and concealed twin zorsts.
We are shooting for 450 horses and 400 foot pounds of torque to make a nice "streetable" car. The standard car weighs 998Kg but plenty of fibre glass bits are available and we may use alloy heads etc.
If everything comes together it may be ready for Marham in October..... or it may not.
