Hello all

Can anyone suggest any good kitchen designers in Norwich? Miss Flipper and me have got a couple of ideas but I thought I'd ask on here and see what the collective knowledge of PH turns up.

Cheers, Flipper

Roughly what sort of money were you looking to spend? Who were you thinking of approaching? I used Kestrel, found Magnet to be overpriced for what they were offering. It is as much about who fits it as where you buy it from. Almost without exception, the job gets subcontracted. Most companies want an uncomfortable amount up front and the whole thing rarely runs smoothly!

Not sure really, we just want to see what we get. However, we have talked about paying up to 10k

Probably best to ask around and see if you can track down a well trusted fitter and get them to tell you where to choose your cabinetry from. They will know what will work and what won't as they are the ones fitting it every day. There are very few true kitchen designers and those that do exist are working with sums a long way north of the figure you mentioned. Designer is nearly always a term used for commission based sales person, don't get taken in, many of them are very aggressive and have little interest in the finished result. Shame I can't mention a few names to avoid! Best of luck, when it comes to kitchens, paying more doesn't always mean better!

Design is one thing, supply is another and fitting is another. They don't all have to come from the same place.

This is the kind of route I would take if I were you. Get his advice on how to get the best price and design on the units. Nothing wrong with B and Q stuff if that's going to make it easier, then source your own appliances and granite if that's what you're having, as you'll save there too. You could get B and Q to do you a design and quote you for supply and fit and supply only. They aren't too pushy. Then get your fitter to run his eye over the design, check the measurements and suggest any changes. He may also be able to get your units for you and pass on some trade discount. Best of luck!

Im not saying this guy isnt very good and it maybe that youve seen the quality of his work and can highly recommend him, but a friend at work had B&Q supply and fit a bathroom.

Ive never seen such a mess, it was originally a 5 day install and they are having to go back for the 4th time to rectify all the faults. The latest remedial works will take 3 days and this was a circa £9k bathroom
