I am still relatively new to this forum, but having seen that some of you get together for runs etc I wondered if there were any other like minded car nuts in the Dereham area of Norfolk interested in getting together at a local pub to show off their pride and joy and generally chat cars! I have a 964 and would like to do some local runs. I don't want to join a Porsche club as I would like to see what cars other people drive.

Anyone interested?

wavey Welcome to the EA forums!

I'm from down the road in Shipdham, and there are one or two more of us in the Dereham area.
The best way to meet us is to pop along to the monthly meet.

The next one will be the Christmas Meal, information for which I'll be posting up later tonight.

Also if you'd like to be kept abreast of PH East Anglia happenings, please feel free to send me your email address, so I can add you to the PHEA Mailing list - simply drop me a message through my profile. You'll then get e-shots from Simpo Two and myself with information of things that are going on smile

ETA: Oh, and look out for a Blue Audi RS4 (or Green/Black Mercedes in pleasent weather) both with "GEE" registrations - that'll be me! drivingbiggrin

Hi Richard

Have a look at http://www.phea.co.uk/ It lists the shows/runs we did this year. The pictures haven't been updated in a while wink but they show the type of thing we get up to.

PS Got any pics of the 964?

Doh! Have updated index page... but car shows look pretty much the same each year!

ETA: You are of course very welcome to open the batting at the PHEA Christmas Nosh: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...biggrin

Sadly I can't make the Christmas meal, but really appreciate the invite. I will keep an eye out for the Mercedes and RS4 when I am next in Shipdham. I have taken a look at the photograph of the Merc and it looks immaculate. I will try and get some pics of the 964 on here soon. It is by no means perfect and requires a bit of TLC. Mechanicaly it is pretty sound, but the paint work is starting to blister in one or two places. Could anyone recommend a good and affordable paint shop close by?

My daily hack is a BMW 525d M Sport so the Porsche tends to be a weekend treat, not that we have really had the weather for it! Please keep me posted as to any other events I can attend, I quite fancy a tunnel run in the New Year. Has anyone done one?

Does the new one outside Baldock count or is that Hertfordshire? Is a trip to London out of the question?

Yes, I guess it is a bit short - London it is then!

Well, tunnel runs certainly do happen but AFAIK are done by other areas. However, if there's enough interest we could put together a PHEA jolly in the spring, maybe taking in some other places on the way. Our secret weapon is MarkCSC, whose routes would fox even a WRC Champion!

There is a tunnel run group on Pistonheads but it is very cloak and dagger. The runs seemed to attract the wrong type of people (people driving like cocks in 30 zones etc) so it is done on an invite only basis now. There are a few other tunnel runs organised by different groups but they seem to always involve and accident or two, something that hasn't happen on any of my runs (thankfully).

I'll probably do another Fish and Chip run to Aldeburgh next year http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...
but any other suggestions welcome, although I'm not keen on group tunnel runs (would sound nice though)

It is always the idiots that spoil it for the rest! I guess that you don't go public when organising something like that. Having looked at some of the footage it looks like fun, but not at the cost of an accident, especially where my pride and joy is concerned! Anyone up for a nice quiet drive in the country taking in a few old railway bridges? Only joking, got the message and need to approach with care and caution.
