Has anyone got any ideas of how I can find a small lock up, garage or barn for rent. I want to try and find somewhere close to my home near Dereham in Norfolk to store my 964, but don't want to put it into one of the bigger storage faclities because I still want to drive it and don't want to have to pay the earth! I looked in the local paper, asked one or two farmers, but nothing. Any thoughts?

Try the council for garages to rent - but do your research on location/area - I store one of my cars in a friends double garage but it's a favour for a favour - I did have a council garage in a better area but 2 break ins (nothing much taken as it was holding my extensive spares collection) and not close enough to keep a daily eye on it meant I gave it up and extended my own garage - still not enough room so borrowing garages.....

Put a wanted add in local paper - plenty of people don't use garages to store cars so might be interested in storage income in this current economic climate

Thanks, getting a garage in a good area sounds like it could be a bit of a task! Will try the local estate agents and ask around. I am currently using a cover, but it seems to make the car sweat. Is keeping my 964 outside likely to cause any problems?

I wouldn't even bother with estate agents... But then I'm renouned for being cheeky in a fair way

I'd write a short but clear note on A5

"wanted winter storage for cherished classic car - fair monthly rate paid for secure storage with occasionally mutually agreeable access times,,,, Are you sure the pedal cycles and lawnmowers couldn't go in a shed, you'd generate a small income on space you wouldn't normally use" Put your first name and email or telephone contact details

and go for a sat Morning walk round a decent housing estate and post a sheet thro every house with two cars on the drive in front of a double garage - that always means to me I get added security of cars blocking in access

PS Covers are bad news........

OK Car covers making contact with the body work are bad news - that's nice albeit a nice price for covering a 10ft x 5ft car - cheaper than a model garage laugh

Having said that a 18ft by 7ft one is £410 so upscaling isn't terrible

The cover could be the answer that I am looking for. The worry with renting somewhere is access. What's the point of having a toy if you can't play with it, especially if you get a nice day!

I'll make some enquiries- I'm in Dereham and know a few people who have nice motors tucked away safely in lock ups in the area - same situation as you're probably looking for

Thanks, I am looking at the portable option that Mark suggested as I want to be able to get access to the car regularly. Anything considered though.
