As the dealership is not local, the owner has emailed and telephoned them yesterday but as up to this moment, I havent been told that he has had a reply.

Will update as soon as I know.

I've asked if the guy needs any help off forum - I've a contact at a very senior level in Vauxhall who hates this as much as us other petrolheads.

Paul,

Many thanks mate. I am good friends with the owner and have seen the way they have treated him so far and I am appalled at the intial contact and then the email they sent him.
They are saying the 162 miles added onto the car was due to them having to balance the wheels properly to ensure everything was up to their high quality....

Unless they racked up the miles on a four wheeled dyno, the car has been taken and driven on the road with out the owners concent. Report it to the Police if there's no joy from the manager.

Last year a car of ours had to go to the dealer under warranty. It was away for 2 weeks and had 100 miles added,(we always make a note of milage when a car goes into a garage). I realize the car needed to be tested but why should I be out of pocket especially when the dealer concerned has a petrol forecourt on the premises, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Hi Guys

Sorry no input for so long but been rather busy turning the population of the UK into pikeys!!

I read the comments of the guy with the Vauxhall and, although I can see why he's a little pissed at the mileage - what the bloody hell is the number plate holes thing all about. Sorry, but having a hernia about a number plate being screwed on and not stuck on with sticky pads is a little anal is'nt it?????

Hmmmmmmm!!

Have to disagree with that one........A whole host of my customers would go bannanas if I screwed there number plates onto the front of the their cars. 8/10 of them show there cars and don't like the number plate shown on the front and having 2 holes is worse.

And I would be the same, the screws caps look like ScensoredT and if it happened to me I would make them replace the plate fill the holes and repaint it especially after I have told them not to do it in the first place. If they refused I would see them in court because it tne becomes a matter of principal and they would lose.

Call me anal if you like but if you show your car you know where every fault lies they then become the only things you see.

Neil,

The issue was that he bought the car from the dealer and said he wanted stick on plates as he was going to do some trackdays shows and wants to be able to remove it easily. Then less than a few months later the car went back to them (dealt with the same guy as the upgrades ordered at time of purchase that weren't in stock had to be fitted)where the say the plate was loose?

Not sure about yours but if I have stick on number plates, they dont get 'loose'..they are either on or off.....

Basically they have screwed one of the company black plastic surrounds on then the numberplate onto that. I've een the car and the plate and surround isnt good and its on at an angle....I did mention that by deflating the tyre on the opposite side it would straighten it up but that didnt go down well... wink
