what was going on?
usually car spotting here just doesn't happen but yesterday was something else.
saw my first ever carrera GT, shame it was in tango orange frown
a couple of monaros, several old rollers and bentleys, an old riley 2 seater thing which looked bootiful cloud9, a new GTR, a focus RS and an F430.
only went to trowse and back from the coltishall side of norwich yikes

was there a show going on or something?

on a personal note the GT sounded awesome as he gave it the right boot coming off a roundabout. i kept up with him too wink honest gov.

Sorry to burst your bubble my friend but the "Carrera GT" you saw is a fake based on a Boxster. There is a whole (rather derogatory) thread relating to it on PH somewhere. A search relating to Carrera GT replica will probably unearth it.
Edited to add this! http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t... Carrera gt replica on porsche boxster

The one you saw was based on a 1303 air cooled beetle.

The orange Carrera GT will almost certainly be that Boxster-based immitation, I'm afraid!
It just has lots of noise and show, with no real go frown

Yes the orange Boxster wannabe Carrera GT has a very loud exhaust, and a very bright paint job, but that doesn't make it big or clever though! But has fooled a few people so perhaps mission successful? Each to their own!

Each to their own I say, if we all liked the same thing the world would be a boring place!

I'm with you ILM, it can be seen regularly at a gym in Whiffler road, seen close up you definitely will know it's a replica.......

Was one of the Monaro's a red VXR? If so, it could have been me that weekend, went for a drive upto Cromer so would have gone round the Norwich ring road from the A11 around 5 oclock/ish i think it was... driving

If i'm honest. Which I am.

That's not a bad effort, I can appreciate the time and effort, but can't understand the reasons? Was it done as an exercise for the business, or because you wanted one?

Still.

Get the right alloys on there, and a more faithful front, and you'll be very close thumbup

Dread to think what you've spent though.

You could have probably bought a genuine 200mph good looking car instead wink

Keying is a silly comment though, granted.

I followed it round the ring road before Christmas and I have to say I was very under whelmed. The panel fit for the roof seemed poor at best, the noise is not a good one to my ear and overall it stood out as a replica . . .

Fair play to you for having a go, but it didn't strike me as something I would ever invest in and I do not imagine that after a few years and some mileage that it will look anything other than a bit shabby . .

Keying it though . . . no, I wouldn't stoop so low.

Hi, why don't you bring your car to the North Norfolk meet? I'm sure most people would be really interested in taking a good look at it. As I have already stated, it would be a boring world if we all liked the same thing. I have nothing against fakes in principle and would gladly have a nice Cobra or GT40 replica in my garage if I had the money for such a toy. Don't take what some people say on here too seriously, I don't blame you for being defensive over what was a pretty silly thing to say, but I doubt very much if the offending poster saw you pride and joy in Tesco's car park, he would really do such a thing.
Regards,
Stuart

Kinda agree with you - but I sure it was just a 'tongue in cheek' snub. One of my mates knows you and I got talking to him. I would like to see it in the flesh as he reckons you get loads of admiring glances...... LOL

He said you were going to start producing kits to convert them?

There are lots of pricks around here who cannot understand mutual appreciation. I had my last Murcielago run over, and a brick thrown at it at the Larkman lights - avoid at all costs my friend!

I would come please let me know when it is.I teach most evenings at my gym in whiffler road so evening might be out, and any one can come look at it any time!!!contact, mark@gtsupercars.co.uk we take good or bad criticisms just not slaggings its childish this car took 7 hard months to get to finished stage!! and a lot of money,(like it or not? i dont like picasso paintings but i dont slag them because i cant paint) so sorry to be defensive but i put a lot of effort into this car myself not just payed someone to do it,thanks for the comments!! as for show and no go no one in norwich has seen this car above 4k revs, and those that have heard it know that exhaust sound changes big time the higher the revs so next time some one wants to see it move come for a ride!!

Not a great thing to say! Each to their own i say, i personally think it looks good! To say you would key it, is very immature & pointless.
So, i would say, that when you get a dream car of your own, i hope someone hasn't got your views & keys it, just because they dont like it!
