Really need to get the mapping set up on the Ultima - she's not road legal yet and I need to do some runs with the wideband AFR hooked-up! Basically need to set up an emissions friendly map wink

With the SVA re-test on the 25th August and no track days available to me wondered if anyone knew of any suitable private road/dis-used airfield etc available for hire/testing purposes? idea

Be great if I could trailer her there and spend couple of hours tinkering! Failing that I'll have to do the mapping on the run to the test centre and then pay for another bloody test!

Oh well the joys of building your own car.....

Hhmmm tricky. We always used the road between Halesworth and Bungay hehe

There used to be a glider club with an ok runway out Diss way, but it's 20 years since I've been around there....

Give Norwich Airport a ring. I'm sure they won't mind oyu running between the aircraft hehe

Seriously though, Snetterton appear to run "Testing" sessions to prepare cars and bikes for track work. Maybe it would be open to cars as well.
TESTING LINK

The next session, according to their website, is Friday 21st August.

I'm not sure whether they would let you set up a road car, but it be worth giving them a call, if it would help.

If you speak to Shawn Taylor at ST- Racing, he uses somewhere in Watton for his skid pan driving and general hooning around....he may be able to get you in there...if not he should be able to give you an idea where...

You've also got the airfield (the other half) at the old heliport?

Telephone 01502 476400 or 07767 827172 (RainAir now operate there

01502 476240 is the number for the guys who run the farmers market, I believe they own the land.

Thanks Darren.....I see enough of Norwich International b*****y Airport as it is ta very much hehe ......and unfortunately 21st is out for me as I'm testing/racing Silverstone that weekend & with MSA regs i'm pretty sure you have to be registered with a specific race series.

I'll certainly give Shawn a ring and see if he can help - appreciate the heads up Kev!

Hmmmm - Ellough.....had thought of that but last time I was there the old runway was in pretty poor condition but might well be worth a little recce....thanks for the reminder Clint & the other contact numbers!

Cheapest option my well be to use the drive up to Norwich VOSA test station as the mapping run - means a fail and another £38 but really wanted to get the car mapped next week and go for a pass! At this rate I'll not be on the road before Xmas!

Keep posted....thanks again, Simon

Thoughted I'd chip in even though it seems you've already found the answer! I use/used the old Eye airfield stretch at whats now called Oaksmere business park. But I think thats now classed as public highway as the lorries use it for access?!?
Re. the testing at Snett. You dont need to be a member of any racing club, just need a valid MSA racing licence and to pass the noise test (105db I think). I should know as I'll be there testing myself.biggrin

Shawn uses Sculthorpe near Watton and a VERY charming person he is too.

He is a Lotus and Ferrari instructor.
