Got pulled today in Diss for having a dodgy spaced plate. Got no problems with the fact but it might be worth watching out as it seemed like he was specifically looking for them. Might save you £60.

With ANPR in widespread use, I'm surprised anyone gets away with it at all. It's asking for a bust.

I was running german style plates on my last 2 audis for the past 4 years and never had a problem....until 6 weeks ago when I was pulled and given a £30 fine.
No beef on my behalf, I knew it was illegal, and just waited to see how long it was before I finally got pulled.

However, when I was finally pulled it was a Friday morning on the way to work, thankfully I'd not been out the previous night (a Thurs), because on occasions, even if you've only had 4 or 5 pints and gone to bed late, who knows just how close you maybe to failing a breath test?

In hindsight, I now wonder why I left myself open to such attention, and would not fit them again. However, it owuld seem that more and more cars are now taking on german plates, especially around Norwich, so the threat of being stopped doesn't seem to worry people.

One of my biggest bug bears is tinted windows. How on earth do people in Range Rovers and X5's and the like get away with blatantly illegal tints on the front side windows, especially when it is far more likely to cause an accident than illegal font on a number plate?

The illegal font can confuse the 4 billion various speed/tax/traffic-light/box junction/congestion charge cameras, and so prevent you from being controlled and fined. Nothing to do with accidents, just money.

It's sometimes popular not to have plates on the front as it "spoils the appearance"
Warning: It attracts a fixed penalty - no points though, allegedly.

Cambs are also quite hot on it too.

It's amazing the amount of dodgy plates still out there, especially black/silver plates.

Not as hot as North Wales, apparently.

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults...

A North Wales police officer on an emergency call to save a father and daughter who had plunged down a waterfall stopped to check a motorcycle number plate was regulation size......
“As he wrote me a ticket, about 15 minutes after I’d first seen him, a second patrol car passed with its blue lights and siren on, also clearly on an emergency call. The officer then calmly informed me the car was attending the emergency he had been responding to. When I asked what it was he said: ‘Two persons missing in a ravine. We have air support attending the scene, hoping to lift them out.’”......
A North Wales Police spokesman said: “Officers are tasked with specifically talking to motorcyclists – advising them of their vulnerability and enforcing any offences disclosed. North Wales Police have the resources to deal with simultaneous critical incidents.”
