Just got a call from Phil at Marshall's telling me the GTR was now with them & arranged delivery for next Tuesday. He was even kind enough to send me a piccie of the new beastie - Happy days!!!biggrin

Hoping the weather is gonna hold as I have the full afternoon/evening put aside in order to take the scenic route home......looking to get 300 miles on the clock so I can start to open her up a bit driving

Would really appreciate any ideas for routes, stop offs to take some arty pics, grab a pie and pint etc.......would normally hit the A14 and head for Diss, Beccles etc - thought about heading up Cromer way then looping back down? Anyways any ideas or suggestions would be great.......

Think it's gonna be a long 4 days with the odd sleepless night!!

Simon, You lucky lucky barstard...

Well for the trip back, I would go A14 - M1 - A619 - A 625 then onto A57 around the Peak District then do the same in reverse...Enjoy.....hehe

Cant help with the trip home, but i can help with the car.

Mine is identical to yours, had keys off Phil on the 23rd may and it just keeps getting better and better, 1700 miles now and getting faster and faster and faster.

Sorry, that doesnt really help with your 4 days wait does it.

Remember me to Phil, ask him about the left foot throttle incident i put him through, made me laugh.

Thanks guys...

Crikey Kev you do realize the Datsun hasn't got SatNav?....I'll get lost if I cross the borderbiglaugh

Hi Clint....hmmm I reckon its gotta be pushing the 1400hp mark now...is that too much or am I allowed to get a little bit more?hehe Fancy meeting up Tuesday night for a pint somewhere? If not what about run upto Cadwell Saturday 11th - meet up with the 750mc MR2 boys for the next round?

Pete think you must have made an impression on Phil as I he's already mentioned something in passing....I'll be sure to get the full story off him Tuesday! How did you find the running in period??

Been playing around with the ole online route planner and reckon a trip up through North Norfolk might just fit the bill.....

Cheers, simon

PS - Clint don't worry....the other GTR is booked in for retest 14th July!! Fingers crossed for a pass - got me entry in for Fighting Torque & would love to do some charity events late summer.

Ha ha, thats funny.

Ref the running in, Phil told me just to stick below 50% throttle and all will be well, needless to say thats still pretty quick.

Im quietly confident these cars dont need any running in, they just tell us so we dont roar of into the distance and kill ourselves.LOL

Just spend the time playing with all the knobs and buttons and soak up the attention you will get.

Ps--The road from the A11 to Dereham in norfolk is good, very good infact.

Mate thats a top looking car, saw a white one the other day and it looked and sounded fantastic!

For a trip I would suggest:
Cambridge - Thetford - then 1075 to Dereham - B1110 to guist, head to Fakenham then the B1105 up to Wells, then the coast road to sheringham. Stiffkey / Blakney and Weybourne will offer some good stopping for some pics, and the pubs are pretty nice too, Dun Cow at Salthouse is a nice stop off!

from there head the coast road all the way to Stalham, then from there the A149 back to O Broad.

Bit of a good mixture of strights and corners, although a bit bumpey in some parts!!

do a lap of sheringham if you do also, would like to have a look at the GT-R!

Thanks guys....that trip up via Sheringham sounds like just the ticketthumbup

Anywhere in Sheringham I can aim to stop at around 5pm ish for drink ??

Really hope the weather stays fine......3 days to go woohoo

Simon

PS - Mark first SatNav cars are due September I believe - my order wan't due till April 2010 though. Cancelled order allowed me to jump the queue so to speak - considerable saving (k's) plus got £2k scrappage against an old suzuki jeep I'd had for a few years.....bargain!!!

I couldn't suggest a better route than that, other than to say if you want an even longer drive, from Fakenham instead of going to Wells, head off down the A1065 towards Swaffham, then West along the B1145 to Gayton, up the B1153 to Hillinton and Docking, then to Stanhoe and Burnham Market on the B1155 and then the A149 to Wells.

One note of caution on that route. The A149 through Stiffkey & Blakeney is narrow and twisty with parked cars causing more obstructions so, in a relatively wide car like a GT-R, it may be a bit stressful.
Also, in the summer months, there are likely to be a lot of holidaymakers & day-trippers doing 37mph so it could be a little frustrating if you're unlucky with the traffic.

Saw the 'NPH' registered one on Normanston Drive yesterday, still can't get over how big they appear to be.

Have fun picking it up!
