PH Car Treasure Hunt on 12th July
Discussion
We have once again organised a car treasure hunt.
In addition to the flyer, I can offer some additional information about how you can join us and explore some superb countryside and roads too: -
Participants can enter as a group in a single car, or as an individual driver.
Any car (or motorcycle) can participate from the mundane to exotic!
No application is required to join the event...simply turn up with your tenner!
Some participants will be stopping for a picnic, at a lunch stop recommended by the organisers.
To solve the clues, a UK road atlas (2 ½ inches to the mile) will be required.
Satellite navigation (Sat Nav) systems, cellular telephones and pocket (palm) computers may be used, but will probably be of little or no assistance!
The winner will be decided by the organisers. Only in the event of equal winning scores (a draw), the tie-breaker questions will be included in the total score.
In keeping with past treasure hunts, the winner will be awarded a superb engraved classic English pewter Tankard, generously donated by a sponsor.
The treasure hunt is not a timed event and the organisers accept no responsibility for any loss material or otherwise. Cars must be taxed, insured and have a current MOT certificate.
The money raised by the event will be split equally between “Whizz-Kidz” and “1st Steeple Bumpstead Scout Group”.
I think that is all for now...it should be a great day out!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions...

Thanks very much for adding this tricky event to the itinerary Toffer! Pewter tankard you say?!
I've only done one treasure hunt before. Perhaps I was over-enthusiastic but I went charging past all the clues at 80mph, then had to turn round and go back past all the people I'd overtaken, and still couldn't find any pigging clues... If you can assure me your Treasure Hunt is a bit easier, I may sign up!

The treasure hunt is a mixture of simple, slightly harder and quite tricky clues.
On arrival you will be given a driver's pack (in exchange for your tenner!) and the driver's name and vehicle registration number will be recorded.
There is a very lovely "approved lunch stop" with free parking and space for picnics. I expect some drivers will prefer to stop at one of the country pubs...
We are getting a great response and a diverse range of cars, TVR, Morgan, Land Rover, Porche, a classic Jag (if fine a XK150), a fully restored XK150 confirmed...that will be the first time I have seen two in the same place!
I just got an email from a Micra driver, he said it was a classic...I said we welcome any car...even Micras!
The tankard prize is superb and the competition is looking very good!
Come on PHers...make an effort, dust off that old road atlas and join us on Sunday the 12th July for a great day out!

We have now received the engraved and polished English pewter tankard, which has been generously donated by a sponsor and will be awarded to the winner of the treasure hunt...it is superb!
We also now have received a donation of engraved chequered flag motor sport trophies for second and third places.
Hope to see you Sunday!

Thanks for a well organised, challenging and fun afternoon. It was our first car treasure hunt and all of us in the car really enjoyed it despite the odd argument regarding directions. I hope the event will be repeated next year, as we would love to challenge for the top spot.
Thanks again,
Alex, Liz and Alex
