We have friends coming over with their 3 year old son and are looking to 'do' something in the afternoon of 4th July.

Any ideas? we were going to goto Easton Farm barn but the Maverick music festival held at the same weekend has put us off due to how busy I assume it will be?

Anyone know of something simular and suitable for an afternoon entertainment for a 3 year old, ie farm animals/ picnic/ walks in the Stow/Diss/ Bury/ Woodbridge area ??

Thanks

My Grandparents always took my to Southwold when I was younger. Skimming stones into the sea followed by a walk along the pier and an ice cream. Plenty of pubs to keep the older ones happy and good fish and chips!

You could pop over to Jimmy's Farm, pat the pigs and buy a pound of bacon smile

Living in Woodbridge has some benefits wink

My lad is 4, and loves the play area on Kingston Field in Woodbridge (nr the river)

Nice walk along the river wall - email me and I'll doodle it onto a map & email back with the tea hut highlighted for an ice cream as well wink

Rendlesham Forest visitor centre (don't raise hopes *too* high wink) has had some recent investment in a childs trail with large wooden animal climbing frames etc, but I've not ventured up there recently, so can't comment from first hand.

Southwold is good.

I'd recommend a boat / pedalo on Thorpeness meare (lake) as well.

A walk on the beach at Aldeburgh, followed by a pint at the Cross Keys with fish & chips from either of the two chippys in town (both owned by the same chap) is a great evening.

Easton Farm Park is a banker as well - firm favourite with the little ones.

Don't forget that Colchester Zoo is just over 30 mins away in the car, also Bressingham Steam Museum is about 40 mins away, on the Norfolk border.

Hope that helps, feel free to ask for more wink

Visit Flatford or Dedham and hire a rowing boat, feed the ducks, picnic on the bank etc? A nice hour or two.

Why not make a day of it and go to Yarmouth, spend a time on Joyland and then hit the arcades, all 3yr olds love putting 2p's in the machines, i know mine did! plenty of places to stop and eat/drink. Carriage ride up the seafront to the pleasure beach then a walk back down the front is guaranteed to ensure a quite drive home!

Thanks for the suggestions, I think we will try Easton Farm park and hope the Marverick music festival is not too unpleasant ( I assume lovers of this music would not be looking to pet a rabbit :HEHE: )

If it does look bust then the row boat at Debenham could be a good reserve, either way will will bring a picnic.
