Going to repaint all the woodwork on the house and need to get access to the gable ends as there are wooden cappings bloody everywhere....Getting a decent painter is becoming hard and I dont want to spend upwards of £3500 (quoted minus access)....

Anyone able to offer any advice or recommendations for hiring scaffolding or access equipment.

Kev, If you decide to go down the full scaffolding route then i would highly recommend "Ideal" scaffolding up in Norwich. They have carried out a few contracts for me and are a decent bunch.

With regard to your other option of alloy access towers, you are going to need a lot of gear to get upto gable height, but as long as it is put together correctly and you have sufficient outriggers in place it will be a lot easier and cheaper to use this type of equipment. The usual hire company culprits such as Speedy, Brandon tool hire, Gap plant, HSS or SGB would be my choice for a large tower. They all have hire books that you can look in, to assess what equipment you need and the hire charge etc.

If you need someone to help you put an alloy access tower up i may be able to help you out, PM me.

Cheers

If you can get it done in a weekend, why not consider hiring an access platform? Only a few quid more than a tower scaffold and quicker to get up/down, and can move it where you want.

Gary,

Cheers for the recommendation and the offer for help. I'll give Ideal a bell and see what they say.

Probably need it for two weeks whilst working on all the woodwork around the top half of the house.

Cheers

You could probably get it all replaced with plastic for £2k.
