Thanks buddy, I'm still in two minds at the minute, throttle is all fly-by-wire and feels a little vague, handling is very Japanese feeling and the power delivery is either on or off. Servicing costs are astronomical but apparently its all about the driving experience?? To be honest at the moment i feel like someone has stolen my mars bar and replaced it with a black jack. Time will tell.

Hi,
I will be watching your posts with great interest, hoping to be a future 3200 owner when the dust settles on this credit crunch stuff (we're still doing ok but not counting chickens yet).

Your initial posts don't inspire confidence & I hope it's just that the 3200 is so different from the TVR that's making you feel it's not up to the mark - I REALLY want one later this year or early next year, & hope they are all I think they are .

Never even looked at one closely, so maybe I'm in cuckoo land :-(

Good luck with the new toy :-)

I never looked at one until i bought this i must admit, check out some of the threads on the bugatti maserati forum, scary costings!!! The biggest things ive noticed so far is the throttle has no feel to it at all due to it not using a cable, also there is a slight lag between you asking the engine to do something and it actually doing it. From inside the car all you can hear are the turbo's spinning which makes it sound very Japanese. The ride is comfortable and sporty at the same time, but the large 275 rear tyres do track slightly. 380 horsepower is definitely not enough, i am in the process of trying to find a good chip for the car and changing the rear silencers to some without baffles. I think another 100 horse would improve the car no end, the traction control is either on or off, if you put the car into sport mode it will let you have a little bit of fun but i still think it is to over powering, when it is off the throttle seems to have a mind of its own. To be honest, if i was you, i would take one for a very long drive, back roads, motorways, traffic etc.............. then if you still like it............go and buy a skyline gtr!!!! same car, better handling, lot less cost to maintain. But thats just my opinion, but i dont buy into the whole 'italian' thing, either its good or its not, plus side is i can get the family in it quite comfortably but that really takes its toll on the 370 BHP on tap.

Good unbiased write up from you there Shadey ;-)

I fancy one because I too have done the jap thing (had a couple of years buying them in & reselling), 3 impreza, 6 skyline, 3 soarer,1 supra, & 4 gto's (plus a few delica's, largo's & a trio of chevy dayvans)

I must admit, the jap stuff is unbeatable for reliability & no doubt cheaper to tune than a mazzi, but they are too common. i can go out any day & see 2 or 3 but havn't seen a mazzi for weeks - the price for wanting to be individual is high i guess !

I will take your advice & test drive well before buying, don't want to get stuck with a lemon.

No worries mate, your always more than welcome to have a go in this one if you like, i paid top money for mine as i wanted a full ferrari dealership service history, every extra they did and black leather. One major thing to look at is cars that are approaching the magically 64,000 miles. This service will cost you anywhere in the region of £2000 as its the last one that includes the timing chain, this then resets the engine back to the beginning, try to find one that has an oil change every 3,000 miles and serviced atleast every 6,000. Make sure the oil is 10/60 castrol (can be ordered through halfords, i have a trade card if you need anything) as this is the only oil reccomended for the high stress engine. You can download the electronic servicing manual if you fancy having a play yourself, if not ive got it for you. Just been out and gave a 911 a good spanking with 3 passengers so i spose its not all bad laugh

sounds like you need to do a throttle reset, common 'to do' list for the 3200.

Cortese in Bath used to do chipping for these not sure if they still do, engines are fairly fragile though so be carefull.

Searching on the maseratiforum.co.uk will unearth more than you'll want to read hehe

Enjoy!

A look around your car & chat to you when you're a bit more adjusted to it would be fantastic, can't beat seeing a car that's owned by somebody who has been down the jap route like me (but your japs were better than any i have had). If & when you have time, I really would like to take a look at the car & it would be a good excuse for a ride out anyway.

I'm sure the Mazzi will look a peach against my old GTO LOL
