Hello

After a great turn out on the fish'n'chip run in April, I thought it might be nice to do another run in June/July. I'll probably organise the Late Summer run again in September, but if anybody has some ideas of what we could do/where we could go that would be great.

A run to the Nurbergring? nuts

Seriously though, it's a bit of difficult one....I mean we've done a pleasent Suffolk coastal town; we've done South Norfolk.
As a groups we've done the North Norfolk coast road.

I'd be more than happy to do something similar.
But what about a run to a car factory, brewery, or somesuch place?

What a "further afield" two day run? scratchchin

Just throwing random ideas in the mix, so I'll be prepared to be shouted down winkhehe

I agree with you Darren. How about a run the Ace Cafe ( the popular London Cafe used by all petrolheads throughout the UK.

For anyone interested I, Mr A, and a few mates are doing the Nring the 27th-29th June. PM me if you wanna join us.

How about something a bit different like a "treasure hunt"..... Set a mileage limit so the fuel costs to the "big boys" wouldn't be out of orbit, then it could encompass a few interesting places to visit. Have a start location and end up at a pub etc (Rose and Crown??) the "treasure" locations could have a question about each one i.e the road sign outside Abbey Gardens has how many town names on it? That way you'd need to visit it and you'd have the answer to prove so. Set the cars off in groups of 5-6 at intervals and the group has to return together for their trip to count. Would be a good exercise for those not knowing many others to get involved as they'd need to group discuss the next location so long as "mates" were in different groups? The faster cars would be in a group with the slower ones so a Lambo for instance would need to hold back to wait for a lowly Sierra for instance!! (although speed limits would be strictly adhered to!!!)

Just an idea so i'll go and sit back in the corner now.....

I'll add 'Trip to Breckland Technology?' to the list. We met the owner, plus almost-unique Breckland Biera, at Lakenheath on Saturday and he was happy to have us over one day.

Sounds like plan! smile

Nurburgring - will have to do it someday!

Treasure hunt- Sounds good but it would take a lot of organising, might be do-able if we have some volunteers....Lee? wink
(PS I did a bit of research in to Treasure Hunts and they can't be timed otherwise you need permission from the MSA or such like. Having something like "group closest to suggested route milage" is a way around it)

Other routes - I have a route sent to be by a friend, which is a ring around Cambridge (about 70 miles of A and B roads). Already planned and instructions written, although it was from 2005 so the roads may have changed a bit.

Any other ideas?

You could all drive 150-200 miles to see me in sunny Shropshire and I will make you a cup of tea and possibly a biscuit.

Otherwise, yes Breckland Technology sounds great. I'll come down for that.

I guess it's a little late to suggest a Le Mans trip or maybe even classic Le Mans?

That may be a bit too much for a light Sunday afternoon jolly, but PH as a whole does go to these events - probably on the Events forum.

Hi guys,

Thought I'd just pop in to clarify a point re: Biera visit. When I spoke to Mike at RAF Lakenheath, he said a visit may be possible once production is up and running (which he estimated wouldn't be until later in the year). Fear not, I'll get on it when the time arises biggrin
So we wouldn't be able to visit within the suggested time of June/July for something to do.

RE: Karting and BBQ at mine.
Watch this space, as I'd like to get something organised soon smile

All you need to do is remind him there is a particular tunnel along the m25 that demands the roof to be dropped and bypass valves open on the DB9. Then to carry on onto the m20 down to dover and just keep driving!!!!

Job.Done.
