HTH
My Virus scanner kept picking them up. Now whenever I log in to Facebook my firewall shuts down the internet explorer. It had whiped out my email, ebay and pistonheads yesterday. The Facebook Virus couldn't get into my system so it went after my web links instead. Facebook have had over 100,000 complaints in the last month and have already offered to pay me off providing I sign a confidentiality agreement. Ooops.
Guy Bunker from Symantec says the virus is easy to get rid of.
He said: "You can either just download some anti-virus softrware from the web. Or you can do it yourself.
"Just go to your Windows directory and search for these two files: tmark2.dat and mstre6.exe.
"If you find either of them delete them straight away."

Love facebook...working for a global company it's a great way to connect to everyone I speak to but probably will not meet and heck if my 68 yr old father with alzheimers can manage and enjoy it without problems anyone can.
As with anything on web you need to make sure you use common sense.
The viruses usually come attached in links and are very easy to spot..usually very bad english in the titles, from someone unexpected and something along the lines of ....this video/pic of you.....
Ever not sure before you open an email or a link anywhere on the web, go check any virus software site and their virus libary first.
....same goes for the hoax stuff.....don't forward on check first.
Happy facebooking for those that do.

One of the companies I work for has just had to spend £10,000 restoring their computer system after picking up the Facebook Virus. I only appears on my home page. I have had to set up a new Hotmail account, ebay account, online banking profile, and of course Pistonheads. Now Microsoft won't let allow me access to my old inbox because all my passwords have been deleted and reset. They've sent an email with my new password to the inbox I need the new password for! Tw@s!
There are no contact details for Facebook either by phone or post. So the only way you can reach them is through their own site, exposing you to the risk of the virus again. Half the computers in Gaywood Libruary shut down the other day because of the Facebook Virus. I'm not going to risk mine again. 100,000 complaints out of 100,000,000 users isn't enough to justify doing anything about it.
Go on Facebook if you want to risk it; but personally I hope I never meet anyone who works for Facebook.

Keeping tabs on me, Steve?!
There'll be plenty more photos uploaded soon!
Just for the record, I've never had any problems with Facebook viruses.
If you're on there, search for me "Darren Gee". My profile photo is me driving my car at the moment

I would have been there if my car'd been together
People by now should be aware of the risks of clicking on dodgy links!
If people were to keep anti-virus up to date, anti-spyware up-to-date and use an alternative web browser to Internet Explorer, people would be completely safe on the net.
And cost isn't an excuse either, AVG Anti-Virus is completely free as is Spybot Search & Destroy... Firefox, Apple's Safari and Google Chrome are all out there ready for a free download and import user data (saved passwords, bookmarks etc) upon install, so there really is no excuse to be using Internet Explorer with its numerous security failings.
Even on managed networks, it is possible to download Portable Firefox, that doesn't require installing to use.
Alternatively, the safest option is to buy a Mac or install Linux and you won't even need Anti-Virus
