Engine Hoist Needed Urgently!
Discussion
Hi, I need an engine hoist pretty darn quick as the engine is coming out of the Cobra on Thursday. Does anyone have an engine hoist that is situated on or along the A14, A11 or A47 that I can pick up tomorrow from midday.
Boosty has very kindly found a possibility for me but I don't think it'll fit in the MINI.
Any alternatives gratefully received!
I'm driving down from Birmingham along the above roads to Great Yarmouth to see a friend in the evening then driving back to Ely to start the engine extraction early the next morning.
If anyone can help, I'd be VERY grateful.
You can phone or post here, I'll check for any replies. Fingers crossed!

Hi Hannah - If you need a back up plan I've got a hoist... currently just south of East Dereham at my mates workshop in Shipdham (5 mins off A47) - someone always there until 6pm. Feel free to call me if you need it on 07979708466 and I'll make arrangements.Cheers

I'm all sorted! The engine was very kindly removed by Martin (johno_78) on Thursday last week and promptly driven down by me to Eat Sussex to a friend off the Cobra Club for diagnosis and fixing.
HURRAH!!! The diagnosis is GOOD!!
Here's what he wrote:
"Good news on the engine. Main problem was that one of the rocker shafts had snapped meaning one of the exhaust valves wasn't opening at all! This also allowed the lifter on the camshaft to be thrown out of it's bore meaning all the oil would have drained out at that point.
Good news is though that I have completely stripped the motor and the rest of it is like new. There are signs of low oil pressure on the bearings but nothing on the crankshaft itself.
Basically all it needs is a new pair of rocker shafts, a full gasket set and main and big end bearing shells. I hope it won't cost more than £200 to put it all back together again.
I am going to order the bits tomorrow so I can get on with reassembling it over the week and next weekend.
Today I have been cleaning all the bits and getting them ready for reassembly. Just a few bits left to do now and it should look like new when you collect it! :-)"
