What the hell is going on with PHEA. Ive not had chance to read the boards much the last few weeks. but Ive sat down tonight and spent a while reading and I cant believe what Im seeing. Im a member of few car clubs but the East Anglian Pistonheads has always been my favorite, the mix of cars and the mix of people has always been great, but its all going to go if we arent carefull, the place is falling apart. seperate monthly meets, maybe a seperate area. Its OUR club and we need to sort some things out, this is a hobby and its supposed to be fun. ( Nobody is bigger than the club)
I want to help sort some things out for us to do this year as Ive stated before, but the way its going I may end up sorting things out for the other clubs Im in.
I love PHEA, I love the cars and I love the people. but things need sorting for the sake of all of us.

I may only have a Kit car Lol, but Im having my say, and think a few more need to speak too.

come on its worth saving !!!

I agree absolutely Steve, and thankyou for your post. Nothing is going on with PHEA smile I hope you spotted that the recent spell of unprecedented, unpleasant and completely needless aggro has come from one person and he's leaving to start his own group, so as far as I'm concerned it's situation normal, and Darren and myself will be running PHEA for the forseeable future in just the same way you and most other people around here like and enjoy.

It's very simple. If you like PHEA and the way it does things, you turn up and do stuff. If you don't like it, you do something else instead. It's not a job, it's not a living, there are no targets, it's for fun. I enjoy it and I'm certainly not going to let one person spoil it by turning a peaceful and constructive forum into a silly fight. If anyone wants to vent their spleen on a keyboard, there's Pie & Piston.

Seems to be quite a bit of childish point scoring going on.

I just know that there are people that arent very happy with the way things are going. something needs to be done soon, . people arent going to turn up to things if there is bad feeling about the group. maybe there needs to be a discussion at the monthly meet, people can get things off there chest, changes made if needed then we can all move on.

I haven't been on much today, and not at all this evening.
I've just got home to see what's been happening and, as Steve said, I can't believe what I'm reading.

Since I'm RO, I will certainly not take any sides here - no one has asked me to, and I certainly won't.
But come on guys!

John and Ian - you are both very good friends of mine. I don't know the details of everything, nor do I particularly wish to for that very reason.

What's going on between you two chaps is your business, so (until now) I've been adament I'm not going to get involved. But I feel I now should, no must.

It's somewhat a cliche that we cannot get on with everyone, all the time - that's just life.
Ian, you say you wish to go your seperate way because you can't see "eye to eye" with John. You're basically implying that John is trying to rule over PHEA with an iron fist.
John, you're saying you've done nothing wrong.

So now we have stalemate. Neither side are budging - both holding their ground.

I, for one, would hate PHEA to split up. As Steve has said, we are all here because we love cars, and are about more than "guys who just meet up and natter about cars".

So what's the solution here?

Call me idealistic, but IMHO, reconciliation. This may sound rather drastic, but I suggest you both meet for a face to face discussion, on neutral ground. Talk things out. Why have they got this bad? What's started it? Where can we go from here? We're both mature people here, so what can we now do to benefit our own well-being and benefit PHEA.
Think to yourselves if there is anything that you both could have done/phrased/said differently? When you think about everything that has happened, is there anything for which you feel you should apoligise the other party?
Is there no way, whatsoever, you both can sort out your differences in an amicable way?

If not reconciliation, may I suggest that you both still meet face to face to discuss your differences. Then leave on your seperate way. DO NOT LEAVE THIS STALEMATE SITUATION!!!!
But I insist you make this a last-case scenario.

Now that last paragraph, may seem like I'm attacking you, or being pathetic for asking such stupid questions. It may seem like I'm implying you have done things wrong.
THIS IS NOT MY INTENTION

This is the way I'm seeing this whole scenario, and the best way to sort things out for you both and for PHEA.
Now....you both have my number. Call me if you wish for advice or a friendly ear. But as I said, I don't want to be stuck in the middle - I haven't been, thus far, but this situation has a danger of doing this. I want to get this situation sorted for the sake of everyone.

Kind regards,

Darren

Well I've had a pleasant afternoon and now I return to - guess what - another complaint. And that is because is Ian decided to repost the very thing that led to the first complaint. I will not embarass the complainant further by naming names.

Ian, please go and start your group and leave the rest of us alone, because you are starting to look very bitter and somewhat silly now, and upsetting other people. I have alerted other moderators to keep an eye on this forum so that hopefully any future attempts to cause trouble will be quickly dealt with. If you want to be a 'keyboard warrior', please do it in P&P.

Who made the complaint!
I'd like to make an quick observation please.

To answer the question above, there were a number of complaints raised today regarding a number of posts; resulting in the PH senior management and mods 'popping over' for a look - not normally something we'd do, as this forum is not one that we typically monitor (unlike P&P, GG, SP&L, etc, etc).

From a personal perspective, I felt that some of the posts made today were inappropriate, and not really necessary for PH.

Can I politely request that should there be issues between individuals and/or groups, then please discuss them in an environment away from PH. The PH posting rules are very clear and very simple; which can be found here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/rules.htm

I see that a number of these rules were broken today - but no individual action was taken, other than to remove the offending posts, as I know this is not really the norm here.

Please, at the very least, be civil to one another. Sure, there are many PHers that I personally detest - some even within my own PH community - but I don't express those feelings on PH, as it's not necessary.

Thanks for listening; and please, lets get back on track (literally as well as figuratively) thumbup
