A11 Carnage this morning
Discussion
Along the stretch from Thetford to Snetterton
Must have been about half a dozen cars on the verge, one on it's door handles. Nothing looked too badly damaged though, and thankfully a hedgey and not tree filled area, so hopefully no-one hurt
I must admit I slowed down to about 25mph as I approached, and as I accelerated in 3rd gear (in a 90bhp Focus) I was surprised to find I was getting wheelspin!
How on earth does it get that slippery? It looked as if it had been gritted, judging by the amount of dirty crap that I was continuously having to wash my screen.
If the sugarbeet in the salt is doing that then surely it needs some serious rethinking

I happened upon this about 7.50am, they were out of the way so no real problems however the biggest issue I had was the guys waving everybody down to make them slow (we were doing about 65mph) and because of this the car in front thought there was debris in the road and hit the brakes! Thankfully I was far enough behind to slow even still the ABS started to kick in so slippery it must have been!
Pretty much the same on the A1065, about 5 miles south of Swaffham at 7am this morning.
A lorry had skided into the bank and was trying to reverse off it. When we saw it I had a real problem stopping in time, all I could feel was the ABS vibrating through the brake pedal. Fortunately, the guy behind me also managed to stop and even the driver behind him, although he did end up sideways!
I got out the van to see if I could help, only to find it almost impossible to stand up
No way that road had been gritted last night!
