Kev

You dont need to go with 5w/20. A good substitute would be to go to Desira Alfa and get some Selenia (cheaper than other alternatives and very good) or as mentioned to to Halfwits and check out their range.

Find one that is approved by your manufacturer (most good oils will be). Look for the manufacturers name and the rating (i.e. SG or SJ)

Cheers Guys,

Richard, Ford specify the 5w 20 for the supercharged 5.4 litre engine in my truck and unfortunately as the 'new' engine I have fitted into the truck is still covered under the warranty, it is suggested I stick with what is recommended.boxedin

I checked with Halfrauds and Wilco and the closet they do is 5w30 which I guess would be ok....

Both US Autocare in Acle and Ultimate Spares in Wymondham either had none in stock or not enough for the 7 quarts I need.....

Strange considering the oil filter I need is exactly the same as the V6 Explorer / Mondeo.....hehe

Hi Kev, have you tried Opie Oils. Got some for the Vette from them, so you never know.

Update : Just looked, and yes they do Redline 5w-20 in both US quarts and US gallons. Hope this helps. Just to add, there service seems very good.

Ian,

Cheers for that. Yes they do stock it but being in Cornwall, I am not sure they could have got it here in time for the garage time booking tomorrow.

I have some on order from Martin at USA in Wymondham and it should hopefully get here before 10am in the morning ready for the service..

However Opie seem to stock a decent range.

Thanks again

If not the 5w 30 stuff will be fine. As long at it meets the Ford spec or betters it they cannot avoid any claim.
