My other half has just started working in Norwich (Chapplefields). As Park and Ride doesn't appear to Run on a Sunday and from what we can gather all the car parks seem to charge there weekday rates on a Sunday can anyone suggest a good cheap place to park within walking distance?

Have looked at train times ad the first train is too late....

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

Tom,

From what I can remember Bignold School playground is open for parking. I think its a £5 all day. If you get to St Stephens Roundabout from Newmarket Road and hang a left going towards Grapes Hill, there is a turning to your left immediately after the Pub. The school is there on your right hand side. Its all professionally done and manned.

I tend to park outside my unit off Heigham Street if I go in on a Sunday but it'd be a fair walk to Chapelfields. Offers there if you want it though..

Is it true that the NU car park next to the Sainbury's still charge a small fee of £1 to park on Sundays?

Hi Tom,

If she is working in Chapelfield, won't they give their staff consessions to use their own car park?

If not, in terms of proximity, I'd have to go for the school.
I have to admit, I never knew the price of that car park near Sainsburys - I assume its the car park as you continue down the road from the entrance to the Queen's Road store? scratchchin

I can't think of any other park to add, which wouldn't be too expensive. There's the Chantree open air car park, just off theatre street, which is right next to Chapelfield, but I have no idea of Sunday charges, I'm afraid (and can't find anything about it on the net)

Not knowing Norwich too well can you give a postcode or some directions?

If not I think she should be able to find her way to the school!

Thanks

That aint the one I was talking about lol.

The one I go to is a tiny bit to the left from that link and is a triangle shape.

Brazen Gate is the name of the road.

Kings lane is a multistorey that charges more right?

Looks like we have choices.

The NU one I pointed out is a multistorey, entrance opposite the 'gravel' car park.

£1 per day. Never seen it more than 15% full.

Fair enough, it's been a long time since I worked there. My link refers to the multistorey off Queens Road that used to be cheap to the public.

Not that I ever go to Norwich any more since the anti-car greenist feckwits have vandalised the traffic systems, and then congested what's left with some massive logistical operation every saturday involving the moving hundreds of empty buses about.

I've seen it before, but never knew it was a public car park.
Beats paying what I did yesterday in the Forum.....5 hours £6.50. Put in a tenner and then gave only £3.10 change!
So thanks for the tip thumbup

The multi storey oneis where I park during the week (known as Scarles Yard) is deffo closed on Sundays, the other NU car park at Queens rd/Brazengate maybe open on Sunday, but I wouldn't park there unless there is security on duty.
