Ladies and Gents,

From the other forum that I frequent over on Club Arnage, a sad tale of James and his brother (aged 17 and 14) whose Dad, having great foresight, has taken them both to Le Mans for the last 6 years. This year would have been the seventh, but for the fact that James' Dad died earlier this year from prostate cancer. He is really keen for them both to go this year as a tribute to his Dad, but nobody in the family can take him. His Mum has Ok'ed his post on Club Arnage as well, which is looking for some good people to help him out in the quest to get to Le Mans. The request is genuine and I have PM'd James, who has given me all his various details and that his Mum is OK with the scheme and would like to speak to (and meet if possible) anyone who can help (as would anyone probably wish to talk to her too!).

I thought that there may be some of you on this forum who might be able to help. As you can see from the link - www.clubarnage.com/forum/index.php?topic=6811.0 - and the subsequent chatter, a cobbled together solution could be achieved, but it is far from ideal.

Now, the main question for you good-minded, helpful East Anglia PHers - he is located in Norwich, so can any of you who are planning to go to La Mans this year help with the travel and/or camping arrangements?

All the best for now,

MG Mark

Might be an idea to try the Le Mans forum too: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.

hi mark,

the problem i reckon you're going to face is the duty of care part. I'm pretty sure i could get them down there and back in style, but who would be responsible for them whilst there? i wouldn't want anything to happen to them, but then most folks probably wouldn't want to babysit them either (and nor would the kids want to be 'sat for) whilst they're on holiday, probably from their own kids.

unless, I'm reading this wrong, perhaps if you clarified that the kids would be taken care of by someone else, or wouldn't need taking care of and would therefore only need transport, i reckon you're going to really struggle. its a fab idea and i totally applaud you, but its so difficult these days to have any associated duty of care for students: people are terrified of liability and accusation.

good luck, wish i could help more

Hi Guys,

reading some of the feadback from yourselves, I have agreed to take responsibility for myself and my brother whilst out there. Having been for 6 years we know what happens and we know the rules. Mum knows what happens and she has accepted that and she has placed full responsibility in my hands.
Thanks for your help so far, hope to hear from you again soon,
Thanks again,
James
