I am thinking about (or in other words can I possibly afford)having the brass work on my car re-plated. Previously I used Cambridge Electroplating for nickel work but am looking for another company to compare best value this time around. Any links please?

Hi David.

I'm not exactly sure where to begin with this search. I Googled it, but couldn't see anything, and a yell.com search came up with 2 places in Suffolk, but under the subject of "Founders & Finishers"

I had some chrome work off an old XK150 redone at Letchworth Plating Co (just down the road from me!)

They came up really good. It was about 25 years ago mind yikes

Blimey GTR-gaz, thinking about how much chromework on one of those jag's if you had that lot done then it must have cost the fat end 19 quid. Happy days. (I'm going to have a look at your profile to see what other tasty auto's you've had in your garage)

"Founders and Finishers" isn't what you're after then...I did think that category sounded a bit industrial hehe

It cost me a few tins of paint and a couple of days labour! A mate of mine worked there so I agreed to paint the outside of his extension in return.

It was never a runner though. I realised soon after I bought it that it was beyond my capabilities to renovate it, so I sold it a few months later and got my money back. Wish I had of kept it now. The engine was not the original, it came from an old MK10 with triple carbs. I did get the engine to run but that was about it.

I've scanned a photo of it to give you some idea. Hasn't come out very well though

I got some bits of my car done at Peterborough Plating - www.peterboroughplating.co.uk/

They were very good & taking some more engine & exterior bits to them on Tuesday. They posted them back to us when done. We had zinc plating done there - looks beautiful.

I spoke to Gail there - gail@peterboroughplating.co.uk
