Someone didn't watch TopGear...

Anyone heard anything else about this?

As a heads-up, it also mentions disruptions to both road and rail in the area.

Did they not watch Top Gear on Sunday, if they were wearing a Hi Vi jacket & two hardhats they would have been OK.

Agree Simpo, bl00dy selfish way to carry out a suicide implicating and risking others lives. Still when your that despondant they say the mind is out of function, hope he/she did'nt suffer.

Crikey! Agree with the thoughts on suicide. If this is the case, he didn't think, that could have taken other with him! Tragic, all the same
I'm sure any reports on the accident will come out in the next fews.

Was it parked?
Did it breakdown?

What do we really know? (not a lot in my case, but never mind).

According to the news and footage thereof: bloke sitting in car, stopped, on railway line. Train hits it squarely and pushes it a mile down the line. Bloke dead.

it would be a bit tragic if his car conked out due to the dodgy fuel thats going round at the moment. (and be a hell of a lawsuit if proved!)

Ok, so we don't know whether he tried to zip across, and got it wrong, or broke down, or was a suicide as yet.

If suicide, it is a hell of a strange way to go.

If my car broke down on a level crossing I'd get out PDQ. Even if he'd gone through on red and got caught by the second gate, there's still plenty of time to get out and get to safety.

The railway is a popular place for suicides - usually people throwing themselves in front of the train.

True enough. I suppose seeing/hearing a train coming would encourage me to exit stage left as well.. I wonder if the car had stalled though and he was busily trying to get it started again?

Yes, I have been stuck on the tubes a few times now due to suicides. Funny how nice people are, we were all moaning about the delay rather than the fact some poor sod had topped themself. But I think people who do it that way are rather selfish, though I do suspect when considering killing yourself, due concern for the travel home of other passengers isn't a huge priority.

Ok, as a locally person i read the paper (EDP) but recently its taken a serious dive.

For example the "Spin" put on this story seems all very one sided. Dont get me wrong i feel for the family and people connected with the collision. But There are great big signs/flashing lights/barriers to stop people driving across. Im sorry is that not a big enough warning that if you drive through you are in immenant danger??

And along with the newspaper rant the people have no knowledge of what they are writing about, only the other week there was a story about great yarmouth "cruisers" in cars doing handbrakes and wheelies......wow wheelies in a car thats a must see!

How many other inaccuracies have readers spotted?

Get on with your work
I'll just add that Jonny successfully negotiated this crossing 3 times in one day and it didn't do him any lasting harm.
It's not the crossing that is dangerous.
