I've seen that dodge before. You go into receivership to shake off the creditors, then buy all the bits back for 4p at the disposal auction. Cynical but well planned - and everbody else gets shafted. Win to Smolenski.
Risky, but clever.
Seems people have underrated the man.

But his target was not to sell product, simply to escape with as much wealth intact as possible. He doesn't need to make and sell cars. Kid - toyshop - that kinda thing.
And now it has changed hands again to the US of A - hasn't he done well.......

Whatever you say about the Russian, he is a business man. If he has worked inside the laws then fairs fair. Others could and did make a bid for the brand and failed. His was the highest so he values it more than anyone else. Would any sain business not do the same?
Anyway, I bet he has had relatively little to do with the dealings in Blackpool, I am sure the ship is being steered much closer to home.

Easy - people who wanted outstanding performance for sensible money, a pretty body and a big V8. They tried one out of three and it didn't work. And towards the end the designs were more quirky than pretty.

Yes indeed, he's run rings round everyone else and made them look like stumbling fools. Not unlike the sale of Rover! Brits don't have the killer instinct anymore.
