What the hell were they thinking with all those traffic lights and pedestrian crossings at the new A11 interchange on the Watton Road, Attleborough?

You can hardly see any of the road for bloody metal poles. And although I've not been through there yet at school picking up time, I'm betting it'll be queued right back to the 60 limit/blind corner coming into the town.

Looks like the work of another damned student traffic "engineer" who wants to create gridlock.

I'll bet with green lights in the distance and a memory of being stuck at a pair of red lights for ages, people are going to come tanking down that road now making extra noise for the residents.

Such in the lack of common sense on Norfolk Council rolleyes

Funny the subject is bought up on here.....me and friend were dicussing the same sort of thing the other day, but talking about a different.

A146 Trowse by-pass anyone? Heading out of Norwich, they have 3 lanes, which turns into 2 lanes for all of 100-200 yards, then a 3rd lane appears again for people turning right towards Porlingland.....a friend of mine was hit on the side by someone merging in to his lane at the point on the road. Why didn't they just plan the road to keep a 3rd lane for those extra yards? banghead

I'm yet to try this new stretch of road at Attleborough, though!

As a regular motorist trhu Attleborough area I can tell you that the new traffic light infested area works a treat.

You will be frustrated and annoyed whenever you have to use this section of road, another triumph in road engineering.moan

Is the new dual carriageway open yet ?

I bet when it is the Elverden bit will be even worse.

Yes the D/C is now open and it's a great bit of road.

Trouble is with that abortion under the Attleborough bit. It's also got those cock-arsed new pedestrian crossings where the green man is on the side you're crossing from rather than opposite. The imbeciles who came up with that have failed to understand the important psychological benefit of the green man over the road "beckoning" you over. More students I'd have thought.

Wonder how much bolloxing up that road with traffic lights added to the budget?

I noticed yesterday heading out of Attleborough someone joining from the A11Eastbound went through a pothole near a drain cover on the new bit and busted a wheel! There was a black line leading from the hole to the car (now parked off road) with a heavily deformed wheel.

Outrageous. If they'd forgotten the superflous lights but instead spent the money on the surface we'd all have been winners.

What is the point of those lights. Just stops the whole flow of traffic when one car fancies turning off the by-pass.

And another thing, have you tried turning off the North bound A11 there at night..Its a very well hidden junction..it would help if someone actually though about it before building it.

I think i have just become a grumpy old man...!

There's no point! And get this -- they're not even triggered by traffic. I've had to wait several times on the Watton road for the non-existent traffic leaving the A11 to come through.

Slow traffic = safe traffic.

Are they surveilled then? It's amazing really that a law abiding, tax paying Englishman is being tempted to run a red light because they've abused the whole system.

I'll bet if they are being monitored it's because they know tons of people would rather drive across the obviously* clear junction on red than wait an eternety for the lights change when they're only red because they couldn't be arsed to implement the logic properly.

SM
*Desipte all the poles everywhere you can still see clearly if it's safe to cross the junction.

Truth is I don't know if they are camera connected or not.

When you say about the poles everywhere do you mean posts or Polish people (crap joke, sorry) in fact I have respect for the Polish due to thier WW2 effort.
