I am organising BB&T'07, a camping event at Cadwell Park that coincides with the TVR Car Club Challenge and I fancied putting on a short road run.

My planned route is from Cadwell Park:-

Left A153 to Horncastle
At Horncastle right A158
Right onto the B1225
Left on the A631 to Market Rasen
Before reaching Market Rasen stop Willingham Fayre Ice Cream Parlour
Leave Ice Cream Parlour and continue on A631
Right onto the B1203 (outskirts of Market Rasen)
Right onto the A18 then right onto the A16.
Right onto the A153 back to Cadwell Park.

I recon this is about 45 miles.

Do any of you local drivers have any thoughts or alternative suggestions for this route?

Cheers ... Bob

Hi Bob,

There are a few of us from Lincolnshire on here (me included), although most of us are from the very South of the county. It may be worth also posting in the Midlands forum as I know that there are serveral on there from North of Boston and the Lincoln area.

Hope this helps.

Best advice for driving in Lincolnshire avoid the Speed camera's on the A17 and watch out for those Dykes on the side of the road.

sorry its a bit late Bob

I used to live in market rasen and had a westfield at the time so often used to blast down to cadwell.

My friend owns the ice cream place at willingham woods

The route you have selected is a great route though i would be inclined to go from willingham woods towards market rasen as you have said, right onto the B1203.

THEN
at the cross roads after Tealby take the B1225 left towards caister, its a great road along the top of the wolds with open views as far as the eye can see, its also less boring than the binbrook road.

alternativly get back on the market rasen to louth road A613. Its also a good road with fast corners.

Yes it is a bit further but anyone who lives in Lincs will tell you, the roads are empty so you will have a great drive.

WARNING! ALWAYS ANTICIPATE THAT A BIKER WILL BE COMING ROUND THE NEXT BEND ON YOUR SIDE OF THE ROAD!!!

Bikers are higher on the road kill list than pigeons in LINCS.

enjoy,

Thanks Mike, that's very useful. I shall have a look at the map when I get home tonight.

Apparently Lincs drivers have coined the term "HGV positive" due to the large number of blind rises and dips where apparently plausible overtakes actually aren't.

So test the route thoroughly first and keep 'em peeled.

and they say its flat........

which it almost is.....unless your sat 6" off the grey stuff and nobody at the highways agency said anything about the number of corners you must have over a given mile.
