Hi guys and gals!

It was a good meal and I had a great time - 3 hours went so fast!

I'm sorry I didn't get to speak to many of you. I don't think I spoke to any new faces paperbag
However it was nice to see lots of people and it was good to see Gussie again! Like I say, sorry I didn't get round to all the familiar faces - Harley, Sally, Anya, Gary, Simon, Ian, et al - I usually speak to!

The few photos I took can be found HERE

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas xmas and I'll be able to see you all at the next PH meet and actually get the chance to speak to some more people!

Darren

PS
Thanks again, John, for the lift!

Good piccies Darren, and a very enjoyable couple of hours yes
Went home with roof off, started raining at Bury St edmunds yikes but as on A14 and could keep going, decided to go for it and made it home without getting to wet, Telephoned home to get the garage door open ready, and the driveway cleared so didn`t have to stop.
Think Hannah may have had a bit more of a journey home, as left the pub after we did.

Just arrived back from the Gardeners Arms, had a very enjoyable afternoon, thought on arrival we had drawn the short straws as the only seats available was up the corner on our own, but need not have worried as we were swiftly joined by the infamous NaughtyMagpie and her partner/husband Scott, shame the only seat available for Darren when he arrived was also with us but some has to put up with him Seriously, well worth the run out just a shame the rain didnt hold off for another hour to allow us to get home.
Merry xmas and a Happy new year to you all,see you next year
Chris & Caryl

A very enjoyable lunch hopefully not to many of you were scaried by me wearing my Kilt.

Mind you I did not get the chance to use my famous chat up line "do you fancy stroking my sporan"

Think Darren just about survived my driving including the moment when I said I did realise their was a corner there.

Also on another moment does can anyone recomend a good plumber I have a couple of Taps that need changing.

I was scared John, that's why hid up in the corner!

Good meeting today and thanks to Ian for organising it bow.

I was a bit disappointed not to see Darren propped up at the bar when I arrived, he was the last to arrive and first to leave.... bit of a lightweight.... especially after all that talk of drink drink. I don't think we can believe his talk of all night partying, most probably sitting at home with a cup of cocoa hehe.

Man of the match award must go to Hannah, hope you made it home without getting double pneumonia! Just in case, drink some hot toddies, prevention is better than cure!

Merry Christmas and happy New Year to one and all, see you next year.

Morning all,

Hope everyone enjoyed yesterdays Christmas 'do'. I,m sorry I didn't get to see everyone, but once seated it was a bit difficult to get around.

I did notice the 'scary man in a kilt' at the other end of the table, and decided to stay clear !!! laugh As said elsewhere, Darren last in first to leave and not a hint of being drunk. What a lightweight ! laugh

I think that Hannah should be awarded the 'PH galantry medal' for driving the Cobra in extreme weather above and beyond the call of duty !! Hope you weren't to wet when you got home. Lovely car.

I will try and speak to Stan the landlord latter today to pass on my thanks for looking after us so well.

Well done Ian! The first PHEA Christmas Lunch organised perfectly. At least I've done my turn with the Sporran Monster so I'm now exempt for the next 30 years

Bacardi, that's a nice piece of double evasion you've done there; maybe I'll have to bring my reportage howitzer next time!

As usual there wasn't time to swap more than an 'hello' with some folk but hopefully we'll see you all again at one or more of the PHEA events and will have more time to natter. Here's to warm sunny days; in the meantime Ian and I will be drawing up a list of 'stuff' to entice you with next year.

Thanks all for coming along; at least next year will be dry as there can't be much rain left!

Rain???????????????????????

You should be sitting where I'm sitting, there is plenty of rain falling and the sky's still look full!

At least I'm in the warm and dry, mind you have a site meeting at 12.15, so not looking to forward to that?

Yep, great turnout! Well done Ian for organising it all thumbup

The award though, must go to Hannah for braving the weather in the Cobra without a heater.
Hope you're not suffering with hyperthermia!

Well! Wasn't that just the flipping understatement of the sodding year! Yes, the 30 miles home were possibly the mosy "interesting" 30 miles I've spent so far in the Cobra.
Got promptly lost in Tostock and had to pull over when a lovely BMW pulls up alongside (pmoldoakes & coolblue) to enquire if I'd broken down - they must have been psychics as just by the sugar factory there was this horrendous smell of burning coming from the engine. Then it started to rain....I have no windscreen wipers. Brilliant.

We stopped off at the Tescos petrol station by the sugar factory - very busy and Scott needed fuel desperately. Big queues, rain getting a bit worse as is the burning/clutch-type smell...so on we go back on the A14. Looked at the dials, the voltmeter is practically bending it's so low and the feeble headlights are getting dimmer and dimmer as the day gets darker. Work out that the smell is the alternator which is working overtime to power all the dodgy electrics and literally burning itself (completely knackered now).

Traffic builds up, indicators don't work and the wind is terrible, blowing the car all over the place and I'm driving it like a complete banana, hunched up, freezing, can't see. I must have been frozen solid in the car. Bit worrying - it doesn't have much grip in the wet. What fun though!

Anyway got back home eventually in a smelly dirty car with candles for headlights and I was FREEZING!

Had a really good time at the pub though - food wasn't great but company excellent and the staff at the pub were the best. Good to meet Beefy & his wife as well as Darren on our table. Plus got to meet CoolBlue! Hello!

Sorry to hear that Hanna, Wendy said she thought your head lights looked a bit low as we pulled away.

Hope you found your way to the A12 ok, if you just kept on the road as I said that should have taken you straight onto it.

Wendy told me to pass on her delight at meeting you at last and said she will keep an eye on the mini for you.

Have a good christmas, the Cobra is great and well worth the odd hick up.

Hannah sounds like you had the 'journey from hell' to get home. Hope its not to bigger job to fix ( I know electics in a fibreglass car can be a right pain). I,m sure all the agro will be worth it, its a lovely looking car.

I said to Scott - just let me get the Cobra to the PH meet then you can have your wicked way with it! This weekend is the start of it being (figuratively) ripped apart and rewired, replumbed and running a bit smoothly (megasquirt) ready for Marham next year when it will get a good seeing to on the track! Just booked a car control course at Silverstone with Wicker Man and Sue to help me get the back end out to its best effect!

That car can throw what it likes at me, I'll still love it to bits.

To misquote Clarkson, 'It's you versus the Cobra, and the prize is life'

And there was me speeding home down the A14 all tucked up in my cosy Griff, complete with roof, wipers and heater paperbag
